Shout out to "Mountain Bike Suspension Centre"

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I took my DT forks and fox RP23 to Simon @ Mountain Bike Suspension Centre.
http://www.mtbsuspension.com.au/
What a fantastic service experience.
Simon is friendly and professional.
only took 2 days to turn around - ensuring I had my suspension back for the weekend.

He took photos of the filthy oil that came out of my shocks and kept the buggered seals to show me when I came to pick them up.

went for a ride this weekend and it was like riding a new bike. the suspension is smooth and plush again.

Mt York ascents

If a bloke rode up Berghoffers and then had to decide between riding down Lockyers or Lawson's Long Alley, and then back up the other one, what would folks recommend a bloke should do? Based on a preference for least hike-a-bike work.....

And if a bloke then wanted to get back down to Hartley Vale, is there a fourth descent that is reasonably rideable or should he just ride back down one of the two that he came up?

All this is assuming that it isn't too cold to get out of bed on Sunday morning of course.....

Lost: tool bottle at Manly Dam

I lost a black tool bottle - scratched up and with Woolys Wheels logo - at Manly Dam this morning.

I'm guessing it was on the extended loop, on the singletrack just after the pipeline - that was where I managed to endo!

If anyone finds it, please PM me.

Cheers

Dog Friendly?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi All

I am heading up near the Wattagans to do a bit of camping.

I was thinking about doing some mountain biking at Awaba while in the area.

We will have our dog with us and I was wondering if dogs are allowed on the track?

He is well trained and usually runs with me in Sydney.

Cheers guys.

"Hi XXXX,

Belrose Bike Park needing submissions of support

The boys on the beaches have been working hard to come up with a workable solution for the old tip site in Belrose. They are pretty close but need some support by way of submissions. Please jump onto their Facebook page where you can read what to do and how to help. But the key is to make comment for the DA currently up for review."

Tathra MTB Enduro postponed until August 27/28

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

This weekend's Tathra MTB Enduro has been postponed due to torrential rain and local flooding.
The event has been rescheduled to August 27/28, 2016.

An intense low pressure system along the NSW Coast has dumped over 300 mls of rain on Tathra during the past four days, resulting in widespread flooding. Gale force winds have also felled hundreds of trees.

Another low pressure system is forecast to bring further rain to the area on Thursday and Friday this week.

Old Mans Valley to Stay Open

OMV to Stay Open

In case you missed the good news, OMV to Stay Open.

There had been talk of shutting down an all too rare pocket of legal single track in our area, but long term closure looks to have been averted.

Rehabilitation work in the area around the track is due to start in July, so please keep an eye out for notices around this and respect any re-routing of the trail.

Full details in the link above. Thanks to Tristania for the heads up.

Posted on Hornsby Shire Council. Sweet.

Hornsby Shire Council has some great news for the thousands of mountain bikers who love the trail in Old Mans Valley: it is going to stay open throughout the rehabilitation of Hornsby Quarry.

“For a while it looked like we would have to shut it down, but now it will only need to close for a few months while it is altered,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Steve Russell said.

“Council knows what that trail means to a lot of people, so we put considerable effort into finding a solution that would allow it to stay open.

Fox Fit RLC or SID RCT3 100mm forks for a 29er

Hi all,

I'm looking to get a 2nd hand fork, so that I can offload my current one (REBA RL) to my hardtail built.
I'm tossing up between the 2 forks, SIDs are more expensive but lighter. Fox is cheaper, heavier though but better internals according to my mechanic mate.

Anyone have experience with either forks and can share their preference ?

Cheers,
Mario

Getting shafted @ Port to Port day 3

I was 4th in masters general classification at the beginning of the day. My aim was to make the most of my local knowledge in Awaba MTB park where I ride & race regularly to get on the masters podium for the day & into the top 3 on GC.
I came out of Awaba in a group with 1st & 3rd in my category & had opened a gap to 2nd & 5th, 6th etc. Before turning the corner at the end of the first long straight of the climb I glanced back & could not see any riders or groups in pursuit, only one or two who had dropped off our group.

Canberra

Well it was a lovely -1 this morning when I headed out the door for my morning ride. Canberra is great for riding whatever your preference, road, cycleways, and of course mountain biking, but it's bloody cold and it's not even winter yet, wish me luck with my first winter down here, I hope I don't die from exposure.

Hassans Walls Plan of Management. Rider input needed

When I first joined the club it was because a Plan of Management was being purposed for Hassans walls reserve and I wanted to make sure we had rider input. That fell to the wayside but it's back on the agenda now andI need your help to ensure riders have their voices heard.

Lithgow council have engaged Gondwana Consulting Pty Ltd to consult interested parties and prepare a draft plan.

I have had dealing with Gondwana before when the worked on the Mt York PoM where we successfully lobbied to have the "Walking trails" re branded "Multi use trail" and thus approved for riding
