Great job Singleton Ambo's

This was on Monday morning, a rider practicing for the Shimano Series. For a non technical tracks I have had more crashes here than any technical track. The track is fast, and dusty, in great condition for the race. This guy was going full tilt when he clipped that tree. Ended up with a broken hip. The Singleton Ambos did a great job getting in to him and treating, Well done. Be warned after a few tired hours those trees can jump out and get you.

Terrey Hills & Boundary Riders

Hi,

Anyone come across some riders at Terrey Hills with "Boundary Rider" kit on???

Are they nicer people off their bikes than on them?

And what about blonde no-helmet guy - cannot wait for him to get aquainted with a rock soon.......

Smashed GPS

Gotta love it when you lose your concentration for a second and suffer the consequences.

Just after thinking about how many times I'd dropped it without cracking the screen, Last week I stepped on my $400 Magellan Cyclo505 GPS and completely smashed the screen, to the extent that now I can hardly press any buttons on it any more.

Convict 68Km 2016 race

Hi
I am going to do the convict 68KM, I did ride the last Convict 50km and the last Husky 50km.
Anyone who rode the 68km last year or other convict events I am interested in your thoughts and experience on the event.

1) They say that the 68km has single track in it, how technical is this single track and what pecentage is the single track too fire trail?

2) Does the 68km have the down hill section of the old 50km with the hazadous gutters in it?

3) Any hints on the canoe as I am keen on riding it.

Trail maintenance Gahnia and Serrata

Has any one heard anything about maintenance for Gahnia and Serrata? Sections of both are badly eroded and need some work to fill in the holes.

Is Kev C now 2 way?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all,
Sorry if this is old news - been off for a bit.
Riding Kev Costner yesterday and today in the up/North direction I nearly ran into some riders coming the other way. Both times we had a civil chat and I advised it was a one way trail and they said it is now 2 way.
At the top of the trail where there used to be a "wrong Way" sign it has been covered with a sign saying "two way - down riders to give way".
Is this real or has someone just made their own call?

Hello

Could anyone give me a pointer on a good trail in Canberra -

My fiancee is a trail runner and I will be riding my Mountain Bike.

Which trails wold you suggest so that we can run/ride together or in close proximity - without too much mtb traffic if we are on the same track!?

thanks!!!

Riding around Mossy Point and Mogo

Hi, I'm off to stay with friends over Easter at Mossy point. Does anyone know any trails in the area? There is a mention of Mogo on a previous line but there wasn't a lot of detail to the person who doesn't understand the area.
Thanks,.

Is Shimano 1 * 11 better than 1 * 10?

Looking to upgrade my XC bike from 2 * 9 to one front chainring. It seems that my existing wheels will fit a Shimano 10 or 11 speed cassette.

I would like a 11-40 rear cassette so it seems 11 speed is simpler. Anyone have some experience with the 11 speed XTR and one chainring?

Mont 24, now don't need 2 riders ASAP

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

*edit*
We needed 2 riders ASAP to make it happen. Even 1 will do...

Seriously middle of the field contenders looking for another 1 or 2 riders. Male, female, non gender specific...we're not fussy.

Even better if you're over 40 as you'll get the jokes and understand the pop culture references. Even more better if you're fast and can drag down our average lap times.

Team orders consist of:

a) Don't be a dick,

2) Have a rider on track at all times (slick transitions, no transition out of your sleeping bag in camp),

Change of access into Pony club for Pony Express

Please note: the Entry to the pony club off Hassans Walls road has changed

It's not where the permanent rd is going to be, further down Hassans Walls rd. You turn in to the left then right at a T intersection.

At the moment the area is still a construction zone and the land owner has asked that it is not accessed through the day while machines are working. they do not usually work weekends

RIP Mark Dunlop

An absolute tragedy.

If all else failed and I felt like my life had totally collapsed around me, I know I could escape from everything by heading to the Redwoods - where could this guy go?

I had many a chat with Mark as he drove me up in the Shuttle. He brought untold joy to my life, there would be thousands of mountain bikers who feel the same.

Thanks for everything mate.

RIP

Irony at its Best

Isn't it satisfying to see just how much awareness is being made to keep us safe out there. I guess it was really asking too much to keep the sign out of the bike line...

I have a dream

That one day, we'll have flow trails around the slopes below the headlands of Pittwater, with views over the water that will compete for our attention to the trails.

In the meantime...

+1 for The Cyclery Fyshwick helped me out in a big way. Long story short, I received a substantial upgrade for free, very happy indeed.

If you can't ride it, take the easier option!

Regarding the person who placed rocks on the left hand climb/approach to the golf course rock at the Dam. If you find that line too difficult, I suggest you take the easy option on the right hand side until you're skilled enough to tackle the A line.

The rocks placed there to 'assist' the step up, actually makes it more difficult as it's loose and badly placed. It's a quite simple step up without the assistance of rocks, IF you can get your technique right.

Please don't ruin things for the majority, just to suit your own skill deficiencies.

Maintenance after riding thorugh a river

I did a ride over the weekend that included riding through numerous knee deep river crossings where the bike was semi submerged.
Should I be looking at re-greasing hubs etc and any recommendations on type of grease?
Thanks
