Tubeless Burping

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I've got my shiny new Nobby Nics and thought I may lose my tubeless cherry by converting soon. However, after much forum reading, burping seems to be a problem for heavier blokes like myself (circa 90kg inc gear) when running anything below 30PSI.

My concern is, by having higher pressures to avoid burping does this not negate the benefits of running tubeless by benefiting from lower pressures?

As usual your combined wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I'm running Mavic EX729 (26").

Trail search function needed

Hi there,

I am new to Sydney and a passionate mountain biker. I love to explore the trails but I have to spend too much time on the page to figure out what trail to ride. It would be awesome if we could develop a search function with a filter for what kind of trail it is. For example.

Mountain bike trail

technical - YES
high drops and jumps - YES
Experienced - CATEGORY

I know we kind of have that on the page already but there is no search function where you can tick these boxes.

Cheers Nelli Smiling

OMV Closure & Northconnex - an Update

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

As many of you know, the hugely popular track at Hornsby will need to be closed off shortly as the Northconnex project requires passage for vehicles to the Quarry. Understandably, there has been a great outcry about this with pleas to save the track.

After this liaison, here is the latest update, emailed to SNORC members:

Hi xxx,

So what new trails are in store for Hornsby Shire for 2016?

Nowra trail conditions?

I'm heading down near Nowra for a few days on personal business and am thinking to take the bike. The question is which bike - roadie or XC.

What are the trail conditions like down that way at the moment? Rideable or muddy?

Am hoping a local can give me a heads up.

Commuter Bag

Hi NobMobers,

I'm planning to start commuting into the CBD from Forestville 1 day per week. I'll be doing in & out in a day and unlikely to be in the city again during the week. SO I'm looking for a bag that can hold all my stuff for a day; MacBook Pro, work clothes, work shoes, lunch, towel, etc.

I've had a look at the following bag and looks good:
http://www.deuter.com/DE/en/bike/cross-air-20-ex...

If any one has either a review of this bag or could offer advice on other bags that work well for you it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hilarious MTB Rage - Warning: very colourful language used

When I saw this I was in stitches from laughing. This Swedish guy has a complete meltdown out in the track. There are english subtitles to capture his outbursts. Don;t know if that works for you english speaking folks.

Anyone offended by colourful language should not watch it. For anyone else, I hope you find it as funny as I did.

Terry Hills rideable?

Heading up to Terry Hills tomorrow morning and hoping to get dome dirt under the tyres. Anyone ridden up there today?

Thinking Duck Holes and Centre and/or Perimeter and Long.

Will have to stay on the black stuff if it's too muddy!

Anywhere rideable tomorrow sunday?

My attempts today to get some dirt under the tyres got killed by a local heavy rain fall over wylde turning it in to a mud bath just before I got there. Mt Annan is not far away but it was closed. Lots of driving - no riding.

Does anyone know of any tracks dry enough to ride tomorrow within a day trip from northern beaches?

Cheers,
Staffan

Auckland to Rotorua by road?

A group of us are traveling to Rotorua and have found that there are no longer direct flights from Sydney to Rotorua,so we are flying into Auckland then driving ourselves in a 12 seater bus.
Can anyone advise of good trails or sights to see between AKL and ROT?
I'm guessing it's just best to go straight to Rotorua and get into the forest..
Any Rotorua, Mororangi trail or Lake Taupo tips also welcome..

Central West interclub series

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

It's been talked about for years and the guys from Dubbo decided it was time for action

All the details will come soon but the gist is each club will nominate one of their usual races as part of the interclub series.

As well as individual honours it will be a battle of clubs too with each club member earning team points to see which club reigns surpreme

May be a silly question

I've a mate in town tomorrow who wants to go riding Saturday morning.
Can anyone suggest somewhere that isn't too faraway from Manly (up to an hour away) and that is rideable without snorkel and flippers. Some of the track status information seems a little dubious

Thanks

Eagle vs Shark - Last run of the Day and the Rotorua Holiday

Im not a superstitious person but when it comes to "Last Run Of The Day" that's a different story .. I've had two broken bone incidents on "the last run of the day".

So I decided I'd ride cautiously .. except you can't really do that on Eagle Vs Shark. This is how it went.

Thredbo: Best Tyres

Hi guys,

Heading to Thredbo next week, aiming to do the Flow and All mountain trails.

I've got a spare wheelset for my Anthem 29er, and thought I might get alternate set of tyres. Default set came with Maxxis CrossMarks, which seem ok for Manly + OMV.

I'm able to grab a set of Maxxis Ardent 2.4's off a mate for the spare wheelset, which I thought would be ideal for chairlift Flox/AM trails at Thredbo. Both wheelsets setup tubeless.

Any thoughts, or suggestion otherwise?

thanks, damien

Andersons + oaks ride this weekend

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey people has anyone ridden the Andersons trail in the Blue mountains recently and is able to comment on the state of the two river crossings at the bottom of the valley? Looking for places to ride this weekend that are bomb proof with all the lousy weather we've had and I know that the river crossings at Andersons can get pretty deep with decent rainfall I basically just want to know if it's passable or not.. I did the Oaks out and back on Sunday and the Glenbrook causeway was under .8 worth of water with a solid current to it which made passing through it a bit of a mission.

Council Amalgamations

Due to the users endless source of knowledge I have a question concerning the changes among the council system and if they will affect the development of the trails around Bantry Bay and Manly Dam?

If so will these changes be for better or worse or does anybody even know what is happening?
Thanks, Alex

not intended as irony but...

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Due to 50+ mm of rain in the area in the last two days I am out on my mtb riding on the road ( for which neither the bike nor rider is particularly suited,) when I notice six cars parked close to the start of the local "secret" track.

I take a squizzy and sure enough they've ridden into the trail, including an instructor from Sydney bike skills.

Now I don't mind riding in the wet and I am definitely not arrogant enough to tell people not to ride in the wet "cause they'll damage their drive chain etc.
