Byron Bay Free Ride/Downhill
Hey all
I'm going up Byron Bay soon and i've just bought myself a Kona Stab Deluxe... and i'm wanting to put it through its paces.
Does anyone know of any good Free Ride/Downhill Tracks in Byron?
If so where abouts? Direction?

Section 10 Jenolan Caves to Kosciusko
There is a very short track on Map 2 that is easily avoided by using the nearby road. Apart from that this entire section has been enjoyed by many cyclists and is considered ideal for mountain bike touring.
Hmmmm... from Jenolan to Kosiusko? Sounds like a nice little ride 
Creaky cranks
My hardtail bike, a Giant XTC2, has some disturbing creaking from the cranks..
It's not the seatpost by the way...
Raceface evolve ISIS crankset and BB. Bike is a few years old now but was a regular weekend rider for 18 months or so.
Few other forums note this is common situation with this set up. The fixes didnt seem very convincing to me...
Plumbers tape on threads, various spacers used, high torque to secure cranks..
Wondered if anyone has experienced this and what they did to fix it. I am preferring a fix at the moment rather than replacement.

"Protection" for Newbie
Hi All,
New to MTB and to this site. Have had a few bikes over the years but mainly for commuting or dawdling around the beaches.
Did my first ride (walk !) of Manly Dam on the weekend and realised I have got a tremendous amount to learn. Markedly different from the ashphalt and the track is very challenging. Hence why I spent alot of my time walking. Having said that I am keen to learn and will be trying to get as much practice as I can over the coming months.
Cannondale Headshok repairs
Wondering if anyone can recommend someone who really knows the Cannondale Ultra headshok fork well. Took mine in to a shop and they said they'd have to send it to Cannondale to get it checked out. I'm sure it can be fixed but needs someone who really knows what they are doing. I'm keen to get back on the trails so any help much appreciated,

Hey guys, just joined up to this site after a couple of mates recommended it that I rode with.
Currently living in Canberra, but looking to move back to Sydney eventually and hopefully get out on some rides with you guys. Currently hitting up Stromlo and Majura in Canberra pines most weekends with a mate or two down here.
Been riding for around 8 year, mostly trails and recently getting into some skatepark riding with a kona scrap I recently got off ebay

The Bahai Temple
Theres a track just off Mona Vale Rd, opposite the Bahai Temple, initially its a fire trail but it turns into a steep single track with a couple a ramps. Does anyone know the 'official' name of this track?? Or any info about it? Its short, steep and so much fun.
Also once you've reached the bottom, and through the mud theres another single track to your right, how do u get to the entrance to this track, and 2 or 3 others further along the firetrail???
New Rings..etc.
While I am not riding at the moment...its time to look at doing some home maintenance..
The drive train is not looking so flash at the moment but will need to be service soon.
So I am looking at replacing Chain Rings, Cassette and Chain. 
Would like to know what people thought about the Race Face Chainrings in particular or any other drivetrain components for that matter.
This research will go along way for getting the best klms out on the bike...
