Transporting a bike

Can anybody recommend a good courier for transporting a bike from Melbourne to Sydney.

Time is not an issue, but arriving damage free is.

Lisdale Sat 23?

Hmmmm, due to this:

http://nobmob.com/node/1990#comment-5221

And the discussions last weekend, who's up for Lisdale this Sat? The 23rd? 9am meet? Ride for 4 hours? Back home in Sydney by 3pm.

I'd love to go and wonder aimlessly in the forest south of the highway, where there's loads of sniggle allegedly. There's fire trail marked on the map and visible on the sat. This should give some distance, with 1-2 laps of the XC course thrown in for fun.

Takers?

Mini DW Rescheduled

Sorry folk, there was more heavy rain on GNR last night, and probably more to come.

Given the state of the track reports last week think it would be foolish to attempt the trip on the original date.

Have pushed it back 'til end of Jul, please confirm if this is good/bad for you.

narrabeen lake?

...i suspect that track is in part under water - my butcher said Manly Dam had overflowed when he was walking his dog there...
maybe we will all have to try the theory Gaz is doing - riding in the sitting room on one of those stationary bike stand things...

Belanglo State Forest?

I heard a while back that the trail fairies had been out and about in here (Belanglo State Forest).

Can anyone comment? Looks like your usual (flat) state forest but if there was some nice sniggle in there it might be worth a look.

The Corn Trail

Sounds/looks like a cool, single track downhill in the wilderness. Quiet a trek from Sydney but cool all the same. Check out:

Embarrasing Moments in MTB #2

Yesterday I purchased a pair of Shimano SPD shoes. With the velcro and the ratchet fastener thing up top. They feel a tiny bit tight when standing, but am sure this won't be the case when riding and after a bit of wear. I've previously been wearing Specialized shoes of the softer variety (softer sole, laces, more like a standard trainer) but wanted something stiffer and more hard wearing.

Where is it dry!? MarraMarra?

I know there's a planned ride tomorrow morning at the Royal, but it's looking a bit wet down there, with more forecast.

Check out our rainfall graphs. Hmmmm... looks like MarraMarra on Sunday might be a goer. Anyone game? Coba Pt for sure, not sure about Smugglers though, but can do another out and back blast down the firetrail (quiet dull, but good training).

Any takers for a 9am meet Bloodwood Rd? Depending on the rain staying away that is.

Bored in Sydney

For all of you who were having fun in Canberra this weekend. Waaaaaa! Stop it, us ill folk in Sydney are soooo jealous.

FWIW, the weekend wasn't completely wasted here, I managed to put some nice header images up top of the pages. You like?

There was also this shot I found in the gallery. Looked like there was a smudge on the lens or something. Managed to clean it up a little:

Mud

You can thank me later Blondie Eye-wink

Downloading and converting KMZ and KML files to Edge 305

Greetings
As a newbie to the world of GPS, I am looking to leverage anybody else's experiences.
the ride database has lots of cool rides, and there are many other resources that provide Google Earth, GPS and GPX files.
I have looked at Motion Based, and while there are some good trails on there, I am interested to know if it is possible to convert Google Earth files into a format that the Edge and Training Centre can import.
I looked at a number of utilities so far, but confess there is a somewhat bewildering array of these out there, none of which seem to quite get there.

lights

I am interested in some lights and not being very tech orientated I’m not going to attempt to build a set. LED sounds good and I was wondering what people would recommend? LED or not, brand etc. I have a tendency to fall off so they would need to be fairly robust.

2005 Giant Yukon for sale

Hi all

My trusty Yukon needs a new home, not getting enough attention in this house.

Its a 2005 model and has done only 450kms with no major stacks. Size Medium. Upgraded cluster, small and middle chain rings, seat post, stem, handle bars and pedals. Includes Maxxis Ignitor tyre set. Well cared for and regularly serviced.

Would make great first bike or "girl/boy-friend" bike.

$250

Feel free to contact me with questions.

Techno advice

Can anyone tell me the difference between an 11-32T and a 11-34T cassette?
And what is a top normal, and a non-rapid rise derailleur?
I've killed an LX drivetrain through lack of knowledge and Sydney sand and thinking of ebaying an XT spec. Everything is Shimano, but would consider SRAM if better for the money.
I need help.

Get a Cannondale

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Dear "The Pannicar",

I would suggest that if you have enough money (like if you for example are an investment banker, photocopier sales person, master of Industry or Private School Teacher) that you look no further than the Cannondale range. They have the ideal bike for all styles.

Single Track

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey guys,

This is my first post.

I am a very keen Mountian Biker (I love nothing more than cleaning my beautiful green Gaint Downhill bike - I wish that I could have afforded a Cannondale but lets not get started on that as I will just get depressed and I want to keep my first post upbeat).

Anyway, I have all the latest gear and am fully equiped for the most radical terrain (helps when you have 8 inches of travel but only weigh about 50kgs) and now I just need to starte venturing beyond the Manly dam loop.
