Australia
Misc Information & Organisations
Sydney Rides
David Noble's list of rides around Sydney (thanks to David, who doesn't know I have linked).
Blue Mountains Rides
The Fat Hippy's list of some of the best rides around. Take note we have found 'FH' rates a ride highly if the scenery is good (e.g. Narrowneck is not much of a ride but has, I agree, spectacular views that really need to be seen to be believed!)
Shut up and ride!
Check out the website, great photos and GPS maps, if you feel you are up for it give them a call.
NSWMTB
That's, erm... for MTB riders in NSW. At time of posting quiet young, but looks nice so far.
TerraCare
From their site, "TerraCare was created as an information centre so the mtbers can find out what is happening with their local trails and when and where maintenance is being carried out. The TerraCare site will allow mtbers to get involved in these maintenace days."
MTB-OZ
Not enough traffic in our forum for yer? Check the MTB-OZ mailing lists - 100's of messages a week (if not per day!).
26" Dirt Riders Lounge
The site layout took a bit to get used to - but there's some nice rides listed on there, and more forums.
Manly Warringah MTB Club
These guys appear a bit serious. Being a full on club they have regulations, charge for social rides, have race details on site, etc.
Western Sydney MTB Club
Another club, based... you guessed it - in Western Sydney.
Hunter Mountain Bike Association
The HMBA was established in 1984 with the aim of promoting and developing Mountain Bike riding in the Hunter Region, and is the oldest Mountain Biking club in Australia.
National Parks and Wildlife Service
Check their site for info on some of the fantastic national parks we ride in.
Nationwide/Interstate
Mountain Bike Australia
National events and news.
Munda Biddi
A West Australian project to create a 900km Mountain Bike trail from Perth to Albany - should be finished this year. See reports - Liz and I rode in January this year.
Samaria Mountain Bike Promotions
Victorian organisation focused on bringing a few quality events to their state each year.
MTB Dirt - South East Queensland Trails and Info
Exactly what it says on the tin. Large forum and photo area too.
Mapping & Related
Department of Lands GeoSpatial Portal (GSP)
A fantastic mapping resource covering the whole of NSW - this is where we get our topographic maps.
Sydney 128Km Rain Radar
Check the rain before you head out. Other related stuff:
RTA Bicycle Maps
Pretty self explanatory.
Where is...
Directions on getting to rides.
Google Earth
You'll need this fancy little application to look at .KMZ files found on this site.
Gmaps Pedometer
Nice site for drawing tracks on Google Maps. Does distance calculations and saves tracks. If you export in GPX you can then convert to Garmin CRS and load into your Edge/Forerunner to follow.
Motion Based
If you've got a GPS device, Motion Based will log all your rides (and other activities) and produce some nice analysis. It's also a good place to look for where other people ride and get some fresh ideas.
Equipment/Retail/Commercial
torpedo7.com
Australasia's biggest online cycle store - or so they claim! Either way, these guys offer some great discounts and monthly specials.
Bike Addiction
Liz, Gavin, Ryan, David (dirty), David (stinky), Pete, Rob(in) all purchased their bikes here.
Learsport
I purchased my first bike in 10 years from Learsport in 2002 - I thought it was a great bike, recently sold it and it still rides well by all reports. However, Gavin also bought the same model as me at about the same time and dislikes them intensely. I guess it's your call! However, for a good cheap mountain bike my personal opinion is you couldn't go past them.
Giant
Liz, Ryan and Mike all purchased their first bikes from Giant - 'Rincon'. Liz and Mike still ride theirs regularly (Mike hasn't moved on, but that is because he is slack and doesn't ride so much these days...).
Raw NRG
Gavin's favourite site on cycling in Thredbo. He reckons this our should look like this. I reckon ours looks heaps better what do you reckon???
Green Power
Global Warming is a Reality. NoBMoB runs on 100% Government Accredited Green Power. Take action now if you feel as passionate about the environment as we do.
HR Zone calculator
Quite neat if you are into tracking your HR.
Overseas
Cambria Bicycle Outfitter
I have purchased plenty of bits and pieces mail order - usually more useful for bits that you can't easily source in Australia rather than being worth the hassle to get the discount.
Other guys have reported good things about the following online retailers:
Mountain Bike Product Reviews
Great place to look for reviews of bikes and bike parts, there are also some great forums with people's tales of riding.
North Shore Mountain Bike
Or as they word it, "NSMB.e.MAGAZINE - Freeride, Extreme and North Shore style Mountain Biking". Say no more! These guys have a cool photo gallery worth a look if you're into that sort of thing
Events and Rides
This is where we go to enter in events and rides.
Wild Horizons
Polaris Challenge and Urban Polaris, Highland Fling & more.
Maximum Adventure
All types of adventure racing including the Dirtworks 100km classic.
GeoQuest adventure racing
Home of Teva.
Sleep Monsters
Calendar of all Aussie MTB Events.
Overseas
Another online bike shop to add to the links, I have ordered a few things through these guys and the shipping is usually less than a week.

Mud, Sweat & Gears
I ordered some stuff form Mud, Sweat & Gears (http://www.bikeusa.com/) the other week. Think I'd recommend them because the sales guy was prompt to reply to mails (even after I'd entered the order), they were cheaper than even CBO and shipped via standard US Postal Service so no nasty surprises with the couriers.
All the way from Belfast
Got a great deal from chain reaction last week, very happy, pedals at 1/3 the price made it for me.
Make your own Bike Maps or Find other peoples in Australia & O/S
This site has some cool features for making a map route on a street map or satellite photo image. You can pan in or out and can make a bike ride map anywhere in the world almost.
Search for rides in Australia..or make your own map/track route.
Good street maps for just finding locations in Sydney.

ForTheRiders
Came across these guys when Googling...nice people, have good prices on some gear.

Try Also
www.bikemagic.com
"We don't sell gear, we find the lowest prices"
http://www.spadout.com/index.htm
Pull up an item and the price from all your favourite online sites, plus some you don't know, is right there.
My vote still goes to www.dropnzone.com though for the best prices and personal service
ProBikeKit
I'm surprised no one has mentioned them yet.
http://www.probikekit.com/
Roadie oriented, but still lots of good stuff (and a AUD$19 shipping fee from the UK).
That would be because this is primarily an MTB site
I guess, that and you'll find cheaper.
Cyclinic
Highly recommend doing this course. It usually breaks into 2 groups, an advanced and beginners group. Its a day spent at St Ives Show ground. They go through various techniques including cornering, and mono hopping.
www.cyclinic.com.au or www.rlcsport.com.au/products/cyclinic/
I was lucky enough on the day to have Mick Ross and Rob Eva as my tutors. Top blokes and a top day.
