The below was forwarded to me by a club member and looks like good news for Royal National Park (aka. RNP, Nasho) riders.

Note that NPWS are asking for trail maintenance volunteers and offering parks passes as added incentive.

Contact the email given if you are interested. And comment here to encourage others? Smiling

Update: The first day has been arranged, details here: http://nobmob.com/node/10201

I’m contacting you after finding your details on the Metro MTB Club website. I’m currently working on the Royal National Park Mountain Bike Cycling plan with the view to having it completed within the next couple of months.

The plan has been in preparation for several years with the ongoing trial single track at Loftus being the focus. One of the main points in the plan is the inclusion of volunteers from the MTB community to be involved in maintaining the track condition. Unfortunately in recent years the volunteer group that was involved in such activity dissolved through a lack of coordination and direction.

I’m trying to re-establish a group of local riders to take on a role of responsibility for the tracks in Royal and participate in scheduled monthly track maintenance days.

I already have a small group of keen riders that come and do a bit of work on the occasional weekend but I’d like to get greater involvement from the community.

The benefit is mutual in that we can continue to provide single track access to the local riders and the riders get to take a sense of ownership over the local track which will hopefully allow a closer working relationship with the NPWS for the benefit of all. Any volunteer doing 50 or more hours receives an NPWS All Parks annual pass, less than 50 receive an annual pass to the Royal Area parks.

Please feel free to pass on the invite to any of your members that may be interested. They can email [email protected]

have just sent them an email letting them know that I am willing and able (??) to help. It'll be good to be able to give back to the trails.

It’s not often I offer my services for free, but considering the works in my back garden (technically it is my back garden as I have no fence between my property and the RNP) and I ride there on average once a week, I thought it was the right thing to do.

I’ll keep updating as and when things start to happen.

The first trail maintenance day is scheduled for Saturday 15th August 09:30 to 12:30.

Grant, the ranger organising the work, want’s to not only improve some of the existing trails but he’s also said he’s going to discuss MTBing in the park in general. Hopefully this will mean opening up some more trails.

From the email I received looks like there’s about ten volunteers at the moment so if any one else can make it along, I’m sure it will be greatly appreciated.

I’ll probably ride for a couple of hours after and you’re more than welcome to join me.

Chris
