Flynny:

Now for something completely non NPWS. Just got back from a lap of Lidsdale. any one know who to get an edge 305 to upload the course to the new garmin connect using Ubuntu?

gpsbabel is your friend. Install it and do something like:

gpsbabel -D 1 -t -r -i garmin  -f /dev/ttyUSB0 -o gtrnctr -F out.tcx

Then manually upload the out.tcx file. Haven't tried this personally but it should work.

I'll just pipe that to /dev/null Smiling

(actually that is pretty cool)

Have you played with this http://pytrainer.e-oss.net/ it is a linux replacement from training centre.

What I really want is to be able to edit and upload workouts to the GPS.

That is all

Will a Garmin Edge 305 purchased from the UK or USA work in Australia?

Rob's picture

Well, the G in GPS does stand for Global! Eye-wink

So that's a yes. Although a UK or US plug (on the charger) won't fit in an Australian mains socket of course.

With the socket you can obviously get an adapter but you won't need it as it charges through the USB when uploading profiles.

What about the atmospheric pressure differences between N/Hemisphere and S/Hemisphere? Is the magnetic declaration the same over north and south?

Ignore Junkie... he's trying to be funny. The Edge doesn't have a magnetic compass and there's no pressure difference.
