do you know of any mtb rides in brisvegas ...

i found this site but don't know which trails are nearby (ashgrove / dorrington), flowing, without motorbikes / 4wds etc ... http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/brisbane-trails ... something like the oaks would be absolutely perfect ...

i'm driving to brisvegas this saturday for 3 weeks with my anthem and two yukon xmas presents for best friend and her daughter ... both girls are extremely fit / healthy but neither have ever ridden any kind of bike (on road or dirt) before ...

i could teach them the basics if i knew of a safe (the oaks like) environment ...

cheers

in Brissie and the surrounds. some suggestions that are close by:
Daisy Hill - about 15-20min from CBD, sth side, good flowing tracks. maps should be on mtbdirt site, good place for taking new riders
Mt Cootha - 5-10min from CBD - a bit more climbing than Daisy Hill
Bunya - 10min from CBD nth side, similiar to Mt Cootha
there are organised rides on mtbdirt - the MTB community in Brisbane is massive and they do welcome new people on their rides. if you put a post on advising you are coming to BNE i am sure a few of them will show you around, just remember it is going to be hot and humid riding up there.
There is a great MTb booklet/guide you can buy for approx $15 that has maps of tracks around SE Qld, so Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and a few out west - you can pick it up at most bike shops. If you are going to be in BNE for 3 weeks and have time to explore it maybe worth buying it.
have a great time

thanks Montana ... i can't wait ... oohhhhhh ... hehehe [*smiles*] ... did i say i can't wait Smiling [*update*] kerry bought the book today and the girl in the shop said daisy hill was a perfect choice ... regrettably the 19yo might not make it for the sunday ride because of something big happening in the gold coast saturday night (and every other saturday night i guess until she gets sick of it sometime in her late 20s early 30s hehehe) ... i leave sydney either tomorrow night or saturday morning ... thanks again Smiling

Daisy Hill in particular #9 was perfect for my new rider friend ... Mt Coot-tha National Park Gap Creek Reserve was excellent (I had a massive stack on wet wood but two other riders cleared it with ease) ... Nerang is OK (somewhere to go while friend surfed Stradbroke) and Bunyaville is OK ... all in all Brisbane is bike crazy ... there must be over 1000km of dedicated paths, fire trail and single track ...
