Hi there!

Anybody interested in a last ride in the old year on Sunday morning (aroud 7.30ish)??

Would love to go to Oxford Falls or Red Hill but I don't exactly know my way around there, so if anybody knows the way or is up for an adventure that'd be great!! Otherwise I am happy riding around the Dam.

Will be away from tomorrow to 30th evening, so no internet but txt me (see profile) and I'll check this page out when I am back!

Cheers
Carolin

Hi Carolin,

Both Oxford Falls and Red Hill are great rides. Red Hill is a bit more technical than Oxford Falls. I'm happy to show you around either. I'm sure others might join.

Yes, would like to ride on Sunday, try to be there too....

I'm keen; hopefully someone can tell me how to get there by train as i've never been there before either.

Hi, I would be keen to join for the ride on Sunday. Please can you give me somemore details as where the meeting place is. If the meeting point is on Morgan Rd then I know it well. Thanks Tim

Hiya All,

There are certain parts of Oxford Falls that I tend to ride. Have a look at http://nobmob.com/rides/oxfordfalls for more detail and meeting place. I tend to ride the XC track and Moon Rock but am willing to explore else where.

Meeting place is on Morgan Rd, Belrose, its at a 90 degree corner. There is large dirt area where people park.

Hi Murray,

Train to Oxford Falls would almost be a no go, as there is no station near by. I could be wrong...

Hi All,

As this is ride is New Years Eve could we at least have a sleep in? Say 8:00 am for 8:30 am start?

Meeting place is Morgan Rd, Belrose (Crn Forest Way) it’s at the highest point on the road. If you’re heading south and see a big rock to the right hanging over the road painted to resemble a lizard, you have gone to far. Turn back to the large dirt area on the right at the corner.

As for train stations, Murry, your in the shit! No such animal on the Northern Beaches. Only option I can offer is to take a train to Chatswood Station then bus it via the Forest Coach Lines to either Terry Hills or Belrose as both will get you to the intersection of Forest Way and Morgan Rd. From there its just a ride down and then up the hill, look for the large dirt area carpark.

As this ride could have quite a few newbie’s we will be taking our time so all of you out there waiting for a smooth intro into our riding group please jump on this one!

Any further questions please contact me on 0431 703 266

Do It!

I'm with Greg on the later start time, it is a holiday after all.

On the transport option I used to have a similar problem before I got a car a few years back and I used to get a ferry to Manly and then ride to Morgan Road, it's a nice warm up, and after all the road riding you're dead keen to give it some on the trails... maybe. Though that might be a bit difficult with such an early start.

See you there hopefully.

Ta,
Matt.

(Who will probably be trying for a sub 10 minute XC run after the social ride.)

christine's picture

What kind of person 'warms up' riding from Manly to Oxford Falls? I agree with Greg...tests need to be conducted on you!!
I may be there on Sunday depending on how much I get led astray on Saturday night...please don't wait for me...

luke's picture

Sounds good, i'll try and make it.

Luke.

In the interest of maintaining Carolyns original post for an early Sunday ride around 7.30ish Bernd and I will be at Morgan Rd, Oxford Falls, early Sunday morning.

Carolyn, we would prefer to meet just before 7 for a 7 o'clock start and will be doing Moon rocks and xc. If you can't make 7 but don't want to start as late as 8.30 then please feel free to call or text me 0412 174 282 as we can delay to a 7.30 start.

Looks like a great turn out for NoBMob Sunday morning at Morgan Rd. I'm sure we'll see the late starters on the trail somewhere.

As for Matt, you definitely need to be swabbed. Anyone that calls a road ride from Manly to Morgan Rd on a mountain bike a warm up has some serious issues. BTW we to will be trying for a pb unday morning, maybe even a sub 30min lap!!

Have fun all and see you somewhere on the trails Sunday morning.

By the way Carolyn, your mobile number isn't on your profile, I think this field gets hidden in the interest of privacy.

Probably won't go if it is raining so make sure you post here or sms if you want to join the early start.

Ah, I thought Oxford falls was in the Blue Mountains, well, I guess I could
ride from Manly, no Nthshore trains trackwork. Looks like its 10km approx (a little more than a warm up, but doable). There's a ferry that gets to Manly at 6.30am. So i can probably make it by 7am depending on the terrain and wrong turns;) or later depending on the agreed start time.

Paul's picture

I'm a regular at Oxford Falls but a newbie to this group and would love to hook up for a ride on the 31st. I can do 7.30 but 8.30 seems more civilised and less competitive.
Post ride do we do coffee and cake somewhere?

Paul

evan's picture

I prefer the earlier start as well. Means more riding before it gets too hot. Mind you with the weather forecast the way it is we might not be riding at all.

Stuart- I'll see you @7am for a 7:30am start.

Txt me on 0410583683 if you are stil going

Evan

pikey's picture

Ah, Democracy at work!

Looks like we will have a good turn out for both starts.

7:30 or 8:30, see you all out there.

More than likely I will ride rain or not at the 8:30 start.

Anybody lost, in doubt or running late for the 8:30 start text me 0431 703 266

Greg (Pikey)

Matt's picture

IMHO riding in the rain can be a lot more fun than in a dustbowl and you've not experienced all that mountain biking can offer till you've come home covered in mud and soaked through.

If it's raining just put a bl00min' coat on and take a towel for after, it's not as if it's cold in this country! You Aussie lads are just soft...

For those new to Oxford Falls or who haven't seen it before I'd highly recommend having a look at Lizard Rock too, and mainly looking rather than doing, just to see what some nutters will launch themselves off. There's lines you can take that avoid all the tricky stuff and if you're lucky you'll catch one of the regulars looking like a stormtrooper riding a 20kg sled doing something rather silly.

See you Sunday.

Ta,
Matt.

Hi there!

Love this page! Am just back early from camping (ocean was flat and sky was
turning black Smiling and it is all happening!

I'll be at Morgan Rd around 7 for an 7.30 start and I don't care much about the weather either.
So if the early group is falling through (I think Stuart, Bernd and Evan?) give me a buzz or a txt and I'll just hook up with the 8.30 people.

My phone no is 0423-184809

Cheers,
Carolin

Stuart M's picture

Just to clarify that the early option is a 7am start time, ie be there before 7 with enough time to get yourself set up to start at 7am.

Confirmed starters are

Stuart, Bernd, Dave, Evan and Caroline.

Please feel free to join us if your up that early, just let me know your coming so we can wait if your a couple of minutes late.

Stuart

Hello all, I'm new here (name is Kiet) ... great website and would have loved to join ... unfortunately it's my anniversary and I want to keep both legs attached.

Have a great new year and look forward to catching up for some rides in the new year.

flobach's picture

Sounds like a good ride - will try to get there via public transport (heading from Randwick....) - so if anyone wants to guide me, that'd be great Smiling
Flo

Caro's picture

Hi Flo,

am driving from Randwick and can give u a lift if you are willing to take both wheels off your bike Smiling.

I'll be leaving around 6am to be there before 7am. Haven't been to Oxford Falls before so want to allow enough time to find my way.

Give me a ring before 10pm tonight if you want to come.

Bugger - I'm in Perth or would have been there Sticking out tongue

This thread gave me much amusement when back in civilisation (read, somewhere there is Internet). Come on then - how was it this morning?

FWIW, hired a Giant Yukon yesterday and rode some Rails to Trails around Margaret River - nice if you like that kind of thing - shall put up some pics and blog about it maybe.

pikey's picture

We had eight people turn out for the 8:30 (civilised) start at Morgan Rd yesterday. Talking to Stuart they also had eight riders for their 7:00 start.

Myself, Matt, Peter and his Britsh friend Richard, who was flying out that afternoon.
New members that joined us were Paul, Tim, Ian and Murry who I believe peddled to the ride from the eastern suburbs, how keen is that?

We did all the ussual and after two hours on the trails agreed we had had enough, except for steroids Matt who set off for his record breaking lap of the XC loop. (time for drug testing?)

Till then

Greg (Pikey)

Tim8's picture

Hi Greg,

It was my first and what a day. When do we go again? Regards Tim

flobach's picture

Great 7:00 ride - thanks for everyone for a great ride, and being so good to a newbie Smiling
By the way, that harsh landing that gave me a massive snakebite also dented my rim as well. Plus, a bit of the ceramic coating came off...oops Smiling
Hope all of you had a great new year!

Flo
