Let's try that again...

The Mont is on in couple of weeks.
I haven't riden on dirt since that crash at Appin in January. I rode at Ourimbah on Saturday and it's clear more dirt is required quick smart!
Have just got back from couple week holiday.
Haven't used lights on the bike since... must be the Scott?

All this tells me it's time for a night ride at Terrey Hills to make sure the lights are still working.and make sure I can still ride on the dirt before going up to GNR Eye-wink

The plan will be Duck Hole + Centre + Perimeter + Long. Should take a smidgen over 2 hours, but I put 2.5 just in case. As it won't be that dark to begin you'll probably only need lights with 2 hour burn time.

This is posted as a training ride, but it's all subjective... it would be nice to do it non-stop but can play it by ear at the time.

There will be scope for a visit to the Tavern afterwards for those who like that sort of thing Eye-wink

Who's in?
Rob, Brian, BT, obmal, Sinkes, Ed (6 riders)

What Happened?

Were you there and have a story to tell?

Still hurting from my ride at Red Hill on Sunday, (sore fingers, shoulder and knee)...but keen to tag along even if I'm at the rear.

have a flight out of Sydney next morning so will be staying over on Wed night - if close enough I may join in (if don't make 8 before then)

7pm tommorow is a bit early for me to get to Terry hills after work with 'stuff' going on, so probably have to pass on this one.
there's a slim chance I can get along later and meet up along the way...
Will see how the day unfolds.
Defo want to get in a few night rides before the mont so may have to do some Dam rides.

@Whisperer - we can come by the cars (shops) after DH+C if that helps. You can join in on the P+L bit? Be there 7:50-ish I would imagine, there are bound to be a few delays Eye-wink

Thanks to Rob, Brian, Ben, Ed and David for making it an enjoyable first night ride........Hope to do it again soon. Cheers Ben.

Was great dusting off of the lights before next weekend and Clearly more "training" rides are required for me before the Dirtworks, apologies for holding you guys up.

Anyhow I got to near the hill on the long trail, and forgot that my cheerleader girlfriends back at the community hall wouldn't appreciate me being all worn out and all... then woke from my dream and decided to turn around and take the road back to the cars.

Was great to get in some resistance training on the sand pit before the Mont. When I lighten my bike and ride on some packed down trails I'll hopefully feel twice as fast! Smiling

Now that we know where the Sea Eagles cheer squad practises I think this should become a regular ride!

That was tough going in all that sand and my legs certainly felt it last night.

I think the NPWS's recent grading of PM and Long was sponsored by SRAM/Shimano/ the LBS's - as now its pretty hard on the drive train.

My new-ish chain packed on so much sand that it started skipping gears/ghost changing for the first time ever.

Time for a good clean, a new chain and chain rings just before the Mont. Sad

Perimeter + Long = Grinding paste

I noticed that also. I'll inspect everything tonight - Hopefully I don't need any new parts though.

Thanks for the much needed night ride before the mont guys, see you next time, Ed

Jacojoco and I did Perimeter and Long last weekend - noticed the Caterpillar bulldozer parked just past the junction with Long.

Transmission was grumbling big time and threatening to ghost shift by the time we got back to the cars, but a hose sprayed firmly over the chain and a lube seems to have returned it to normal. Might not be as bad as you think Hans, but agree it's best not to take the chance at the race.
