I would like to meet a few more people from this forum. I am definitely riding the Dam at some stage on Sunday so am in unless management approval is denied. As long as it's easy, my fitness is baaad at the moment!

Hey Daveh,

I'm going to try to make it. I'll be on a White Gary Fisher, White helmet...

I answer to the name of Dan.

Don't wait for me though.. as it's touch and go at this point.

... subject to nothing blowing up at work.

Will be good to see how much of a gap I have to close with my fitness! LOL!

I will be riding a small Azonic Hard tail.

but I was invited out today by a friend.

Well over 90% of the track is fine and (mostly) pretty dry. I was surprised there are still some reasonably sized puddles around. There was only one short (<5m) section of heavily churned track.

The first decent looked very slippery and we walked it. Otherwise you should be fine.

Committments mean that I am going to go and squeeze in at least one, maybe two, laps right now. Enjoy.

that was a fun ride. It was great to meet everybody - lots of new faces.

Scotty, your bike skills are impressive. After your entry into the off ramp after the pedestrian bridge, I see why you put 4-pot brakes on your hardtail. Smiling

For everybody else wondering what on earth I'm talking about, he hopped the back of the bike around in the really tight space in a trials move, to be facing the right way. His leap over the gap jump near the end was very nicely executed too. An encore was requested and delivered, even better than the first.

Not sure if Hans captured it successfully with his camera... hope so.

Nice change from recent rain and frost...today was a beautiful warm day at Manly Dam!

Dragged our neighbours Mal and DG (and his new Enduro) over to the dam, and met up with some new NobMobber's as well as locals.

Nice cruisy ride while meeting some familiar faces on the trail, including the Whisperer (Steven) who had just finished a 32 mins lap on his Mojo.

He showed us how to approach the three rock steps; and our newest UK import Scotty showed us some neat jumping/trials skills.

Today's group....watching the Whisperer lining up for the rock steps
Whisperer showing us how it's done....
Contemplating the gap jump....(from the other side)
Scotty (Macaskill?) is the hero...the locals in disbelief...

Sorry, I didn't get Scotty's gap jump on camera, but it was kinda like this... (Watch this space)

to DG for the pisstake re: the Lefty - I think I actually had him believing for awhile that the other side fell off on the way to the meeting point.

Was it Mal who was thinking of doing the Back Yamma Bigfoot?
