brake leaking
topped up the resovior on my hydralic brakes- mrb525 shimano and when i hit the brakes i have oil leaking out of the resovior. it said to fill to top in shimano tech docs- any idea why it does this or how to fix it?

Is the gasket good? Is the lid nice and tight? Not sure of those brakes but I would guess it's just leaking out from where you opened it up.
Did the oil only leak as you put the lid on? 'Cause that's normal if you filled it to the top - if it's still leaking once the lid is on follow ladytoasts advice.
If it's anything like the XT's, you might have a bit of excess fluid in between the cap and the seal. As the seal moves to take up the difference in reservior volume air needs to take it's place, so fluid may be coming from this breather hole.
Do the brakes feel good?
I'd check as said, seal condition seating. If that's fine, then you'll be right. They are a pretty fool proof setup.
Did you put the lid on the right way up? Okay, I don't know anything about them, but I'd be tempted to take it apart, and start again, ensuring all surfaces are clean and un-fouled (and un-fowled) the screws are not cross threaded and you've done them up to the recommended torque.

turns out i had some oil on top of the gasket (ok, i thought it was a filter and put it there, dont laugh to hard, i am trying) and this was leaking out the seal/ cap. so took it off , re bled the line , i think, put the gasket back on without toping it up with oil and cap back on, nil leak now and the brakes work, going for ride on tuesday so hopefully i did it right and they wont fail me when i need them. thanks for all the advice.
