Interesting to see that BA no longer stocks Cannondale and Yeti coz of too many warranty issues!!!.
Apparently Giants never come back under warranty and are their bread and butter. They also sell Pivot.

I know from people posting on MTBR there have been some problems with a early batch of ASR5C frames, however apparently that has been resolved.

Yeti are pretty good for sorting warranty problems so although a pain for the shop, they do provide a quick turn around.

Cant speak about CracknFails though.

blow seals in the Lefty- but would not give Prophet back no way!!.Cannondales are like MG cars,can have annoying little problems but fun as all hell when working good.

personally I prefer my bikes not to break in the first place so that I don't need to test their customer service!

Mongoose is owned by the Cannondale Sports Group which is in turn owned by Dorel Industries.

When my second Mongoose frame broke early last year, they gave me a new frame (after a little encouragement). I would have thought that coming under the same parent company, the Cannondales should be replaced as required with minimum fuss.

Any major brand is going to see warranty returns. The bigger the brand the more you'll see simply due to more being out there. Most of them are on top of it. Never had a problem with any of the major brands honouring warranty claims in a timely fashion.

is that perhaps BA weren't supporting the brand enough for Cannondale's liking and Cannondale sent their business elsewhere?

Claiming "too many warranty issues" is a great way for a retailer to put a face-saving spin on their being stripped of an agency.

Not saying that this is necessarily the case, I have no idea of the sequence of events or their timing, just saying that there is usually a second side to things and you need to look at how the self-interest of the person telling you is being served by the story.

I'm wondering whether Manly Cycles being made a Cannondale agent has something to do with it? Before BA lost the agency, there were lots of disparaging comments to be heard about how much of a pain the Lefty forks were to service, never a comment about warranty issues until after the agency was gone.

Will we ever know the real story re: BA and Cannondale? Probably not. Do I care? Not really. BA is still a good shop, and I still love my Cannondale(s). Laughing out loud

Most likely there is more to it. Let's face it, a warranty replacement is actually not bad for the shop. They get to say they spoke to the importer and they have agreed to replace the item which makes them a hero.

Yes they are usually then doing a rebuild free of charge which is a cost to them of say 2-4hrs labour but the return business they get and the goodwill from sorting out the warranty is worth a lot to the shop. Remember the recent forum on the great service from Paul Rowney whenever there is a Yeti issue? It left me and many others feeling positive about that brand.

Anyone in the industry knows there aren't any brands without warranty claims, especially in this age of light weight boundaries being pushed. I've broken a number of high end frames and even when it's crash damage (which it is mostly) I have always had a good outcome.

As I understand it it had nothing to do with warranty issues at all but the commercial relationship between Paul Rowney and Brad Prescott, who is arguably the best Yeti tech in Oz (he does all the hard bits I can't on my 575). When Brad left BA earlier in the year to go open the new KOM shop in Crows Nest he took the Yeti brand with him. So if your Yeti is ever feeling sick take it to KOM now instead and still recieve the great same service as before. Simples innit Laughing out loud

When I asked the question of BA many months ago as to why they were picking up Giant the sale guy said something about having better commerical arrangements with Giant (rebates maybe?). I think the warrantee issue is a furphy
