An addition to your first aid kit - Steri-Strips

I recently had foot surgery for an old sporting injury, they chopped out some cartilage and re-attached my tendon. The surgeon finally gave me a packet of the 'stitches' being used to hold the reasonably large wound together (so I could patch myself up at home). The 'stitches' are a product by 3M called Steri-Strips (http://tinyurl.com/3msteristrips).

I'm not sure if you can purchase these in a chemist - I'd highly recommend a packet for any injury beyond a graze on the trail. Apparently these are not waterproof and I think a competitor may make waterproof ones.

In the mean time, I need to elevate my foot.

Thanks Pratters I used to carry them but have forgotten they existed. Another product I swear by is called "coban" which I think is also a 3M product. It is a stretchy self amalgamating (sticks to itself) bandage that comes in a roll similar to Elastoplast. Great for keeping gauze in place on open wounds or strapping fingers together.

Just take a roll of insulation tape Eye-wink You can fix anything with insulation tape.

I recommend OpSite Flexigrid. Its a waterproof film that sticks and feels like a second skin and you'll forget its even there (after cleaning out your wound with saline and gauze of course). You can get them from any decent chemist (http://wound.smith-nephew.com/au/node.asp?NodeId...)
