One hand video anyone!
Ok so I have tried filming my ride with a mobile phone in one hand and that didnt end well. My camera is to big and bulky and certainly not water or mud proof. what are my options?

Go Pro or Contour helmet cam...
I have a GoPro HD Hero and chose that over the Contour HD due to the waterproof qualities as I do a bit of surfing/snorkeling. Its a great little unit thats easy to use and records pretty well. However if I was to get one again for mountain biking only I would get the Contour HD with GPS and soon to be released Bluetooth firmware update sounds like a great options with the ability to view whats being recorded over bluetooth on your mobile and then the video tracked with GPS.

Checkout Tachyon XC or Tachyon mini both are getting really good reviews on the net compared to Gopro and Contour.
Specifically the Eagle Eye 1080p - waterproof helmet cams at full HD 1080p resolution for $250. Tell him trailgumby sent you.

I got one of these after seeing a video a friend made with it. I Was very suprised at how good the video quality was for what you pay for it.

Only $9, then just chuck a micro sd card in away you go.
I have a few videos I made around ourimbah with it and they turned out pretty good. Battery life on it is only about 1 hour though.
But for the price its not bad....actually quite good. Also is very small and light so it could be mounted almost anywhere, i mounted mine with just a piece of velcro on the helmet.
Here is a sample taken with the cam, not MTB but should give you an idea. I think youtube reduces the quality of the vid but quality from the cam is pretty decent. It stores the video as .AVI format and has a resolution of 720x480.

Thanks for this but I still like the waterproof case on the Idv model and at 135 you get a heap of accessories. maybe thats a good option. Anyway I think I will get one as it a local Aussie crowd and try it out. Many thanks everyone for your feedback. I will upload some vid after i get it.
Wow for $8.94 I'll take one! If they are half decent I'll get another couple and do multi angle.
Oh and I guess I'll have to try it out next to the pipe on the motor-sickle too, like in the vid.
Retails for about a hundred bucks aussie. 720p resolution. Weatherproof - I've used it as a bar camera for commuting and mtb. Again, see rigidmount.com for reviews and an extremely rugged and cheap ($15) mounting system.
Bar mounting is not so great for mtb, but with a little ingenuity it could be fitted to your camelback shoulder strap with one of Nates mounts, no dramas.
There are a few different variations of those fleabay spy cameras, and some are markedly better than others.
The internals seem to be based on mobile phone camera components that didn't quite meet QA for that market.
There's a techy site somewhere with all the details (will look it up when I get home), but the one you want if you can get it is the #3 model, with next best (if I recall correctly) being the #6.
I use the Tachyon XC - quite light, good clear footage - robust. My only bug bear is the internal microphone, so unless you undo the rear hatch - you only get muffled sound. Im thinking of trying the new contourHD with GPS - we'll see....

not sure which number I have but i am happy with it considering the price i paid.
@pancakes - that cam was mounted on the swingarm of the motorcycle, if you do get one its best to try and mount it somewhere there isnt much vibration. I mounted one on my dads radio controlled plane not far from the motor. The vibrations from the motor cause the video to be fuzzy. We then moved it out the the wing and it was fine. But hey get one and experiment
