Ok, so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dissappointed with that weight loss, even though weight loss wasn't the main reason for embarking on this journey. My main aim was and still is "My aim is to improve my intake and exercise every day, even if its only a half hour walk at lunchtime. My short term goal is get fit enough that I will enjoy my upcoming endurance event. Time will tell."

That said I'm going to look past the minimal weight loss and look at the changed waist, 4cm drop in two weeks, happy with that. I'll also take the joy of yesterdays ride and the "faster" BPM recovery rates I was seeing. I also feel better, and a little stronger so that counts for a lot.

Looking at the weight loss. Why so little? Well could be a couple of things, obviously Saturday night didn't help at all but thats one meal out of 21. I'm going to be positive about this and think its more likely that I am losing fat, look at the waist that I checked 3 times, and at the same time I am building muscle mass which as we all know weighs more. Upper arms and back feel stronger from all the push ups, my thighs are definitely getting stronger as well. Maybe all those protein shakes are working. For the moment thats what I'm going to see it as.

Todays tally

Exercise
1/2 hr walk
2 x 10 push ups
3 x 15 sit ups
no ride / no trainer

Intake
Porridge
Fruit Juice
Coffee no sugar

MT
Cap, no sugar
Fruit

Sushi, Terryaki roll and samon roll

AT
Don't remember

Dinner
Large bowl of pasta with tuna and cheese sauce (light on with the sauce but its still not the best fo my cholesterol)
Magnum

Tea

OK, couple of things of note here
I have been having a fibre supplement in my morning juice since I started. This ran out on Thursday and I have been using psyllium husk since which is meant to actively reduce cholesterol absorbtion. Since Thursday I have been really struggling with afternoon hunger and think this may be because of the change. Need to get more of the fibre and see if it does make a difference.

As for the after dinner treat. Had decided early Saturday that this would be had. As I've said a couple of times, I don't want to look on this as a diet but as a lifestyle change. I do like sweets and there are foods that I love that I know are not good for me. If I try and say I'll never have them then I don't beleive I will ever succeed at this. I need to restrict these "bad" foods and that I think I have done quiet well since the start. The trick will be to make sure that this "treat" doesn't become regular, remember I was once having icecream and biscuits after dinner every night.

Apart from feeling a little flat about the number today, things are tracking well and I'm encouraged to keep going.

The best of all happened on Friday night. I was getting changed and my 5 yr old walked into the bedroom and say me in my undies. "Boy you have lost weight Dad", "Do you think honey?", " Yeah, you used to be out here now you're only out here"

Out of the mouths of babes!!
