On a discovery mission, riding solo and browsing NoBMob for ideas I thought Berghoffers Pass sounded like fun. In reality it is a very short trail which from the top of Berghoffer's Street descends 225m via fire trail to the point where the fire trail joins Victoria Pass, perhaps 50 vertical metres above the base of the pass. It took me 10 minutes to roll down on the brakes, and 20 to cycle up. It's not technical, not steep. In fact its brevity was a disappointment. You can view the Hartley Vale district below from the trail as it descends the escarpment, and there are convict engineering (drainage culverts, stone walls, water basin, etc) along the way, all sign posted. But seriously do the other rides from this point (Lawson's Long Alley, etc) before contemplating Berghoffer's Pass. It was not at all worth recommending unfortunately. It was however raining and I can see how shuttles up and down here on a wet day could keep you fit as it didn't suffer from the rain at all.

Start at the bottom. the ride up is a nice warm up before doing Lockyers or Coxes and the blast down at the end of the ride is always fun
