The new trails, particularly the twisty downward inclined sections.....won't say downhill.....have inspired me to go get a new ride.

Frame/fork has made its way to sydney and I'll be getting it friday next week. I expect the building of the bike will take for ever.

This won't be my every day bike (that's coming later in the year http://www.mountaincycle.com/zenII), so I decided to go something that will be fun on the downward sections, most likely a lot of work on the way back up, but good for some fun desents, general stuffing around and a bit of jumping.

Meet the Battery.

Mine is anodised black with a Marzocchi 55 TST2 fork and Marzocchi Rocco Shock. Building the rest from parts lying around the house.

Wheels - Hope Pro 2 Hubs with Syncros Rims
Cranks - MRP Camber with MRP chain Device
Brakes - Hope Mini
Bars - Old School Answer Pro Tapers (may well be a few inches too much rise in them)
Rear shifter/Mech - XTR
Seat Post - Carbon Bontrager
Seat - Funn

Still debating flats v Clips, I think clips will win.

Started building yesterday. Few hicups that will delay ride time, but the bike looks sweet.

Had trouble with headset compatibility. I have a Cane Creek XXII for 1.5" head tubes. The crown race has a reducer so I can run a 1 1/8 steerer fork, but the upper cup has no reducer. So I need to sort that so I can put my forks on.

Also stole my Truvativ Holzfeller cranks of the DH bike. They don't work great on the bike and I don't like the idea of cannibalizing another bike , so I will order some MRP's shortly.

Bike won't be light (probably in the 14 - 15kg range) but I think it should be fun.

Looks solid. Smiling

When I saw the thread title I thought you were going to be talking about one of those electric DH things we were all cursing about last year, I think it was [lol!]

Lenny_GTA's picture

Noooooo, those electric things are nothing more than underpowered moto's.

It sure is solid. Will hurt going up but I am sure I will get used to it.

Looks good!

Was looking at the Fury recently, a bit more XC than yours.

Gotta love the single pivot.

where'd you get the fork??

Rob, I was looking at the Fury 18 months ago and decided to wait for the new bikes to come out. I've had a roll on the prototype Zen II, and the production ones aren't far off. I think it will be a cool bike. We actually gave a fully built fury away at the December VVC race, the new owner seems pretty happy with it and it looked nice in the flesh.

Fatarse, the fork came from Mountain Cycle where I got the frame from. In hindsight I should have gotten the MRP cranks/guide off them as well as I am having some issues with the cranks I stole off my DH bike. Essentially I have bought a frame/fork combo.

Finally we are complete.
