Paths coming...

Someone's been busy with Google Earth. A few paths have been added and am sure there's more on the way.

Oxford Falls for example (click to enlarge):

Actually, Oxford Falls is a good example for a number of reasons, not least of which is that I'm not too sure on the names of half these trails - please post a comment with your corrections ;)

Anyhow, download the full file here: NoBMoB KMZ. Google Earth is now also available for the Mac apparently, but for those without this great app. there supposedly is a way to get this info to appear in your browser with Google Maps. Might play with that later... any requests?

Don't want to nit pick but my info says one of the tracks is labelled incorretcly. The downhill is not Lizard Rock. Looking at the photo you have posted, head down Morgan Road from the Start/Finish point. Just as the road starts to turn left (if you were heading down the road) there is a track on the right, this is the opposite side of Morgan Road to the downhill, and is marked by a large rock with the face of a Lizard painted on it, hence the name. Haven't ridden it, and probably never will, but I believe it has rock drops and jumps that make the downhill look pedestrian. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Also, the unnamed track at the top of the xc track use to be called road to nowhere although I believe it is now called road to somewhere as it now links up to the green track at the base of the big hill, if you've been there you 'll know where I mean. Explored along it a few weeks back but was wearing my skirt (no offense ladies) and walked the section from where the track is shown to stop, down the valley. This has some huge roll offs and drops that someone obviously does, or atleast attempts. If you are into serious downhill/free riding and come with large balls this is worth a look.

Cheers for the great work Robin, much appreciated.

Robin,

Stuart is right. The track you labeled is called "the down hill", "Lizard rock", which Peter and I did two Sundays ago heads off down the road from where we park then starts to the right just in front of the painted Lizard Rock. It "once was" a MAD construction of timber challengers using pallets, planks and timber (even a couple of see/saws) weaving 2/3rds down the hill finishing back on Morgan rd.

It isnt all man made timber trails. worth doing once.

Regardless, keep up the good work Robin.

Thanks

Greg

Ps all, when are we doing the GPS photographic exploration day?
could we throw some dates in a hat to get the best response?

On the Lizard Rock/Downhill thing... I met a couple of blokes at the Dam who told me they call that Lizard Rock. I mean, they are the same thing. If you know there's another track by this name please let me know Smiling

Funny you mention the road to somewhere, we almost linked that up the other week but had to turn back 'cos of the time. It looked promising so will try again this Sunday.

Thx, too Smiling

Ah.... think I see it now. Sorry, will update the thingy.

Was trying to draw out the some of the paths at Cascades tonight too, damn they're hard to see from the air!

Re: Lizard Rock location... is this better?

If you do Cascades could you mark up the new north shore style single track I think Gav was talking about the other week. He did e-mail back saying from the usual start point but I wasn't sure if that was Acorn oval side which seems to be the usual start point for the google group rides or the east side as marked on googleearth.
Cheers

Yeah, Cascades is in, as is Manly Dam and Terry Hills. Just download the file and check it out Smiling

Sadly no northshore style though, can't see it on there. The other downhill is marked, that's pretty good though.
