Are you into XC or Downhill/Freeride

My bike is a GT Sonsor 2.0 I like to ride most anything. I have not riden DH for 8 yrs since I lived and rode whistler bike park. All I have been finding around here so far is fire roads and really would like to ride real trails.

I am currently living in Whistler and coming home (to the Northern Beaches) for 4 months and am thinking of bringing my X-Country bike with me. I didnt even realise there was so much mountain biking on the Northern Beaches and Im getting pretty excited about trying them out. Im home Aug 17th so I am looking to find others to ride with and discover new trails.

At 120mm travel it looks like the typical Northern Beaches general-duties bike, so you've chosen well. Smiling

Singletrack is a bit scarce around the Northern Beaches (although we're working on expanding the network with local authorities and NPWS). Currently only Manly Dam contains any authorised singletrack of any length, and it's not a lot.

Further afield, the closest quality singletrack is at Yellomundee, Ourimbah and Awaba.

Yellomundee (spelling?) is an hour west from the Northern Beaches and fun and fast, not a lot of elevation change and mostly not technical. Ourimbah is an hour north and has more elevation change, is tight and twisty and keeps you on your toes. It will give your suspension a good workout too. Awaba has a couple of good climbs, and has some great descents with great flow. Only been there once and loved it, especially the swoopy half-pipe sections, but it is another 20 minutes north from Ourimbah.

For cardio training I ride Cascades and Terrey Hills. All fire road, but better than road riding.

I'm always keen, preferably Sunday morning as my little bloke has soccer on Saturday mornings. Mainly ride around the Dam if weather and conditions permit, starting to ride Oxy more too, although have riden Ourimbah a few times and keen to check out Awaba and Glenrock further up the coast. I've got some mates that I ride with although they are getting slack so always looking to ride with new crew.

Give me a week's notice if possible to check with the fam and then I can lock it it. My details are on here.
