Appin ride

We rode 3 laps (27km) of Appin XC track on fri. Was amazed at how good it was - virtually all single track, in very good nick esp given the rain we've had. Great balance of tech rocks up and down, berms, swoopy single track zigs through trees and bushes. Relentless concentration and work out for wrists and abs constantly lifting front wheel over roots and rocks. Fantastic. Def one of best tracks in Sydney area. Will be back.

I've only ever found the 13km Appin track. There's more? Where, how?
Appin is a great track! I don't get there often enough, but when I do I love it. Rode my not-suspended 29er there last time and had as much fun as on the dually.

go under the Bridge on Appin road and head left up an old tar fire road ,climb for a while and you will find more track, there should be a GPS of it somewhere on this site It's the rock wallaby loop!

Wow that's great news about the rock wallaby course. Did 4 laps of the XC course 2 weeks ago and really loved it. Although it was a bit rough on a hardtail.
Was wondering what a reasonable lap time for the XC course would be. My first was a 27 but the following three ended up with a 33 average. (didn't time them individually after the first)
Are there markers for the rock wallaby loop?
Cheers

Great time!

Woollongong mtb club use Appin for their xc races. Check out their race times here:- http://www.wmbc.asn.au/results-a-race-reports/re...

You should enter next months race, you'd stand a good chance of winning. I raced with them a couple of months ago and they're really friendly and easy to chat to - I highly recommend it.
