Really? You post a video of you slowly destroying GTA's hard work?

I'm not going to get stuck into people for riding the wrong way on a directional trail. It's a new concept for glenrock and it is going to take a while to catch on. That said I would like to think that if your going to ride the opposite direction to what the trail is designed you would consider;

- not skidding on the way down a trail designed for climbing. Skidding doesn't mean your riding fast or smooth, quiet the opposite and the potential for damage to a trail not constructed for descending is increased which means more work for all of us.

- pull over and yield for riders going in the correct direction.

- ride in a manner so you have enough control to avoid people coming in the intended direction.

I sent a PM with my concerns

learn how to use your brakes properly goose

Glad someone else said it, because I am of the same opinion.
Goose is great description.
Nice work on ruining the hard work of the trail building crew!

Haven't riden here but if it is a directional trail it really gets up my nose when you are riding the correct way and have to give way (as in this video). This has happened to me several times at the Dam and if you beliveve this Oxford Falls DH as well Shocked

thing is, even if it wasn't directional, its just good manners for the descending rider to give way to the climbing rider, it's so much harder to get momentum up after stopping when climbing.

All this highlights the need for an iconic descending trail in Glenrock.

If we had that no-one would be going the wrong way.

Let's start campaigning.

That iconic descending trail needs to go from the dump around murdering gully coming out at the sewer works. Fully agree we need one though.

i also seen these guys go tearin past myself and a couple of mates as we were ascending buckshot, went by way too fast for me to get a word in especially with all the panting and gasping for air that was going on. They seemed to think that they had the right of way. I think the sooner we can get totem's in there the better as it is hard to form an argument when they may not have even seen the trailhead sign.

Lenny_GTA's picture

Couldn't agree more on the totum pole issue and they shouldn't be far away. At least then if people choose to go against the flow, there will be no excuse for not being aware of people coming in the opposite direction. I noticed a guy on satuurday with a full face helmet and DH rig pushing up after riding down, it would be interesting to know how much of this use it is getting. Not my cup of tea for a DH trail on a big bike, but I guess options in glenrock are pretty limited for the DH crew.

Until the signage is in though, we can't get too upset at people descending. That said, it would be nice if some courtesy was shown to other users.

On my ride this morning, the skid braking into corners is pretty evident all the way up the climb. No major damage at this point though but I wonder how long it will be before the cumulative impacts kck in.

who is installing the totem signs. i own a little one man auger which i would quite happily lug around getting holes dug for said signs. not sure if this is possible, but thought i would offer my services.

Empy's picture

We don't have to worry too much about the signs, the NPWS field officers will be installing them, and there's a lot of 'em!

But I'll keep you in mind if we have to do any ourselves.

Hop fiend's picture

when Mick! & are we stil up for moving that rock on Sat.?

Empy's picture

We are moving lots of rock on Saturday!!

Bring your muscles - and your mates - we need 'em.
