Roosters??

I was riding that singletrack before the Golfcourse at the Dam Wednesday arvo, came round a corner and there was a great big rooster standing in the middle of the trail!!

It turned and bolted, but with no where to go it just ran along the singletrack at full pelt with me riding along right behind it. This went for about 100 meters before it jumped into a clearing on the side of the trail. Was hell funny - never seen a rooster run so fast!

He was there yesterday, and this time he had a mate!! The other roster was up a tree, he jumped off the branch as I startled him! The one on the trail did the bolt again, and again the chase was on! He ran along going" bok, bok, bok", and I was chasing him, riding along, yelling "bok, bok, bok" back at him !!

Eventually he jumped off to the side of the trail in the same spot as day before.

Round the next couple of bends there was two guys stopped fixing a puncture, as I rode by instead of the usual " You guys ok?" I've gone, " How are the roosters??".

Be very careful, I think they are Magpies in disguise.

The one in the tree will swoop down on you when you are distracted.

and sometimes you can see them on the side of the road as well - there are also some down at Oxford Falls near the bridge...
We think people get chickens from the markets and when they discover they aren't girls they dump them - I have had two dumped outside my place...

I was riding Red Hill about 4 or 5 years ago, doing my usual afternoon loop and around dusk ran into the biggest friggin chicken I have ever seen - the drumsticks were huge and boy could it motor, you would have no chance of catching it.

Maybe it breed or mutated and you have come across the offspring.
