Amber/Some Issues

Avoid Kenny's!!

kenny's and baileys paddock is very red - bad for your bike, you have to ride real slow across baileys - i would head towards the picnic table at the point near the beach, head north west along the usual trail, but just when you turn right and go down towards the creek, instead turn left across the meadow and along Baileys track, cross concrete bridge and climb the fire road to baileys paddock then continue on for BJs high roller etc.

The big dipper is also very avoidable. Upper shaft is good, the lower section is best avoided (ie go straight down the powerline easement)

Amber assumes you can read and avoid kennys Eye-wink

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Nice work pharmaboy. An informative update that clearly lets people know where the issues are as well as suggested alternatives. Hopefully some warm, dry days soon. Not a great forecast though!!

Great update.

Unfortunately Baileys will be wiped out now for a while. It will be safe to assume for the next few weeks at least that even if the rest of glenrock is dusty, parts of Baileys will be a swamp.

Seems to be a line mowed across the top of the paddock. If you take that line you will avoid most of the mud.

Empy's picture

I saw that line last week.
Don't know any more about it but it seems like an invite to ride up there and address some of the 'trail creep' that has occured there as a result of people taking the line of lesast resistance to avoid the mud.

Mind you when we all start riding that it will go to shit as well

yep, agree I think the only way to avoid having to deal with the water run off on Bailey's is to have a line that goes through the bush 10 meters or so below the paddock. We would need to rock armor the parts that the water runs through well though

Hop fiend's picture

rock armour the existing trail?-use some flat sided rocks or bricks/besa blocks to keep a low profile for mowing to be still done?

I think they were used at the patto course in the first twisty run down the hill. 200 series half height blocks, so you dont have to dig deep to place them - would be an opportunity though to put a couple of twisty bits in and some cambering, particularly on the low side left hand turns (thinking where the long term problem is right now) - bricks seem to become unlevel pretty quickly and get slippery in shade.

think i would prefer some in tree area single track, wouldn't you???

pharmaboy's picture

fair point.

just made me think of Mr baileys walking track and what potential that would have one day...... Eye-wink

Hop fiend's picture

singletrack under trees would need to be fully rock armoured along the whole length if the amount of water we get on Baileys is any indication-unless we can build say some bridges to really miss the wet spots

......'s picture

no, not the whole length. Just those parts that are wet now. Don't forget. Much of the old singletrack would be still boggy now. Good design has helped with the drainage
