400m

400m

About 20Kms in total (1h27m on the saddle when rode spring 2005) with 2 descents/ascents into the valley. Guessing this is 400m vertical or thereabouts.

One of the many routes around Cascades...

  1. Start at Kapyong Street, Belrose & cycle on the road to the Ralson Ave entry.
  2. Head west into the area, looking for the single track entrance. Once on the single track, bear left for downhill fun.
  3. You'll come out of the downhill on Heath Track (which you can take from above if you're not into the big rocks of the downhill), take a left until the creek crossing then take a right over the creek and up the long hard climb of Quarry Track.
  4. From the top of Quarry, pass the recycling depot and cut back into the park, behind the houses and come out in St Ives.
  5. On the road for a while before cutting left into the park again, taking a right and ending up at the Douglas Street exit. Then hit the road once more until you're almost at Acron Oval.
  6. Time for some serious fun - take the Cascades Track at high speed, get some serious air of the water bars here. Bear left down Lower Cambourne Track for more of the same on your way to another creek crossing.
  7. Cross the creek (round to the left unless you want to get wet) and come back to meet Bare Track not far from the bottom of Quarry Track. Take a right here (unless you want to go back up Quarry and round for more water bar fun!) and follow the trail along the creek, crossing at several places.
  8. Eventually you'll come to a sealed section with the final climb out of the day up to Stone Parade, Davidson, then it's back to Kapyong Street on the road.
