hey all ive change my brake set up from avid elixer to the new XT came with the rotors on special allso XT fitted front with XT pads & XT rotors works like they should...my problem is on the back i have XT pads on the old avid rotors and they wont bed ive tryed everything....bugger it i'll get some light sand papper tomorrow & scratch the rotors...

I think that you are saying that you are now running the latest XT brakes front & rear but on the rear you have an Avid rotor & it isn't performing.

If so I had a similar scenario & found that after scouring the disc using water then going out & braking heavily I got the power back.
I also use spit & dust on the disc as a mid ride cure for lack of power or squealing.

thanks CT.did you use a bit of wet & dry thats what i'll try tomorrow....

Just make life simple for yourself and stop all this mucking about. Go and buy the correct XT rotor, which these days would be ice tech. A bunch of Japanese blokes worked very hard to get that system to work flawlessly, assuming that all the components required are being used.
Shimano engineers know better than you do. You'll never get the intended performance unless you follow the instructions.
Likewise, Avid brakes work best with Avid rotors.
