Menai to open again soon?
I don't know if any of you follow The Roost Magazine on Facebook, but if not here is their latest post:-
ATTENTION ALL SYDNEY MOUNTAINBIKERS! Excellent news as the proposed Menai MTB Park looks to be going ahead. This is pulled from a email I just received from Perren Delacour. Happy Days! :

I have just returned from our SSC meeting with the 15 Councilors. Our proposal was ACCEPTED.......... unopposed.
11 months of very hard work has paid off.
The MTB Park will go ahead. SOON!!!!!!
Our proposal was very positively welcomed by many Councilors. Councilor Gibbons even suggested we start moving immediately.
We were unable to obtain interim use of the land in the meantime, so we ask all MTBers to remain off the trails until further notice.
Alan David, Steve Mowle and myself, would like to thank all those who have offered their support and to those who took the time to send emails to the Councilors.
We will keep you informed.

I never got the chance to ride Menai before it was closed so this is exciting news to me.
Does anyone know any more details?

Awesome news. I think Menai is the best trail network I've ever ridden although that trail we raced on at Appin yesterday in the Rock Wallaby isn't too far off in second!
was driving down the M5 this afternoon and commented to my girlfriend what a shame it was that menai was no longer ridable as we passed the turn off.Looking foreward to playing there again as its my favourite in sydney,even when i get horribly lost!
Can't wait to try this trail! I never thought it would open again…
I have had the pleasure of riding there a few times, what great tracks. It will be good to see it opened up again.

Was at my LBS the other day a worker at the Nuck plant (Ansco?) was there talking how he and his mates still ride Meani during their lunch breaks! They have a race series organised!!!
So I guess it has been open but just for a 'Privileged few'
But I am glad it will be open for us regular types.
Signage at the site (see this link http://nobmob.com/node/22504) makes it very clear riding is forbidden and it sounds like these riders are jeopardising the goodwill being worked on with the land managers to eventually get the trail officially sanctioned and open again.
