Some people have all the luck. Fancy having the chance to do runs down Mt Panorama with it closed off to traffic.

I like my life.

this was a test for Newtons Playground

The boarders has to test to see how far up the Mount they and the street luges would be able to start and still get around Forest Elbow.

All the way from the top... For the record I was giving the boarders a start and then trying to catch them.
With Knobby tyres and standard XC gears I was maxing out in the high 80s at a cadence of 129rpm/. I could get the boarders down through the esses but could not gain on the front runners down conrod. they were hooking

Entries open this week.

On road bikes will be invitation only as we only have time for about 10 riders in between the luge. Off track there will be heaps. Sounds like Grin Spoon will be headlining...

Flynny I once heard about a downhill around Lake Lyell where you could do 100kph offroad, do you know of it/or ridden it? I have wondered if it's true, it would certainly be a rush Shocked

"Believe it or not, non-cyclists sometimes think they have something interesting to say!"

i once hit a sheep at 66kph. how's that for a buzz? i knew the speed as it was my first downhill on a freshly gravelled road with my first digital computer and i was thinking "f..k! 40 mph" it was before spd's were invented and i had old school leather straps. couldnt get my feet out! imagine, my flesh was cheese down the roughest side of a cheesegrater! it even wore my watchstrap through and made it fall off! my ass/thighs were in tatters! not as bad as what im going through now though, i rode 20km back to town, got wiped down with a womans panty liner and raced the next weekend! they breed them hard in yorkshire! now im in oz, i take a fall over the bars at about 30kmh and im off for months!!!!!!!

On dirt?
I think some one is pulling your leg.

They are probably talking about Martins lane which is a public road.

I've hit 85km/hr down there but only maxed out after hitting the tar at the bottom.

maybe, just maybe if it was well packed down and you were running road gearing, but normally it's powdery and has some tough corners. Generally I max at about 60 on the dirt section.

I've gone over 70 down Hassans Walls Road. and on the old State Mine track riders were getting up towards 70 on single track. fastest left hand corner ever....

The link to that site doesn't go beyond a home page, what are the actual mtn bike events at this?

Rob's picture

Inside the main flash site there's a "Competitors" link down the bottom, then you have four categories.

What's this invite only MTB Road Rash? Sounds like bike leathers might be useful here! Eye-wink
