Cascades update for 08 Jul
Submitted by hawkeye on Sun, 08/07/2012 - 15:10
Area:
Cascades
Status:
Green/Open A few puddles and you'll need to clean your bike afterwards pretty thoroughly, but otherwise pretty rideable. Give those climbing legs a workout !

Water Bars?
How's Cascades bedding in since it was graded earlier in the year. I've been off my bike with a bad back for a few months and just now getting back into it... probably won't ride 4 Gates until September as I want to start slow.
When I rode in April the grading had just been finished and the water bars down from Belrose were HUGE... too big and actually quite hard to launch off. Are they any better now?
Was wondering where you'd been
Glad to hear you're on the mend
There are one or two waterbars only that are still sporting nasty-steep faces heading down Heath Track from Ralston.
For myself, I was less concerned with the steepness of the entries than the soft, rock-strewn surface which I found quite sketchy. A nice defined hardpack line has developed.
I'm a bit disappointed that some of the creek entries have gotten so much easier with the grading - they were fun - but they have to be able to get fire trucks through there so it's not a surprise I suppose.
