Fork upgrade

Hey all,

I own a 2010 Jamis Trail X3 with factory fitted RSL Gila T9 forks.

I've noticed that they have started to leak oil, and constantly bottom out/top out when riding. I'm keen to replace these with something a little better.

Any recommendations? I manly ride single track/fire trail, but also ride to work at the weekends (6km ride each way up/down hills on paved road)

Cheers

I'll be selling my Fox Float 32 with 120mm travel in a few weeks Eye-wink
Without trying to flog my stuff... something ~120mm for single track is good, and if you ride on the roads a lockout is essential. As for brands, i wouldn't bother with anything other than fox and rock shox.

Rockshox SIDS world cup. Theyre light for XC racing, work just as effective as fox if not better, they consist of Handlebar lockout so it saves u the effort of locking it out on the fork. The downside is that they are expensive, but if you get the models a few years back, it would be around $600-$700. I have a pair of these forks and they are strong, light and durable for XC trails and XC racing

I'd argue the SIDs would be overkill for this bike. They're a great fork, I run a set myself, but are more focussed on weight and I'd consider it overcapitalising. The RockShox Recon Gold seems to be a better fit, air spring and good performance but without the cost and adjustability of a Reba or SID

You can pick up a basic Recon Gold for a little over $300 new
