Hey everyone im getting sick of the same old here on the north and want to venture a bit wider and have a really good ride. I was thinking maybe ourimbah or somewhere with decent single track and maybe some light downhill...

Can anywhere be suggested?

Thanks all!

Depends on how far you want to go, I can definately recommend Ourimbah roughly 1 from the start of the freeway.
Awaba is worth the drive aswel roughly 1.5 hours from the strat of the freeway

Just rode 2 laps of Mt Annan today.

The combination of fantastic weather, great facilties and professionally built and maintained trails made a fantastic day and well worth the trip

Go for it, you will not regret it

About the 1 hour to 1.5hour mark is where i was thinking. Great footage hawkeye! Go pro with a chesty mount im guessing? How far is yellowmundee? from the north?

About an hour and a quarter from St Ives.

Yep, the GoPro is pretty good.

I'm not sure where you're coming from but Awaba would get my vote. I could happily ride that place every day of my life. It has a bit of everything, some great flowy sections with probably 90% singletrack, it's well looked after and maintained, it's fast, it's a beautiful site and it's peaceful too. Zero noise. A great place to spend a few hours.

Rode for the first time Awaba last Sunday, it was worth the 1.5 hours drive. Ourimbah is a good one too on that direction.

Yellowmundee is another good one, but with the damage from the heavy rain few months ago, half of the trail was close. But I don't know what's the latest there…

Further down of Mt Annan is Appin, another good one. Mt Annan is good, but in my opinion the noise of freeway takes out the charm of this well pro-maintained trail.

Mt York is a great one if you like techy AM descending stuff with climbs as well. Its basically a choice of 2 huge down hills with 2 nice climbs back up - a little hike a bike is needed on Long Alley unless you're a gun.
WIsemans Ferry is also an awesome ride - out and back to the monastery + some exploration around the campsite is a good few hrs.
Or register for the 12hr at Dargle for a whole day of goodness!

Can HIGHLY recommend Awaba and Ourimbah, both so different and awesome in their own way.
A drive to either WON'T disappoint!

I rode Yellomundie in May and it seemed in need of some TLC, that video looks promising though Smiling

Yellowmundee is my local XC track - roughly 4km from my front door.
WSMTB have been working hard fixing it up after the heavy rains. They are using a race loop of roughly 6km with another 1-2km in good condition making around 8km of fairly good condition track. Awaba has 12ish? on the red loop with the blue and yellow options as well and is probably more exciting.
Depends if you want XC loops or more adventurous type stuff.
Ando's/Oaks combination from Wenty Falls is also a good ride of around 60km but mostly firetrail..

2 hours south from Ryde towards Canberra. Great combo of sweet single and trail. 25km on the red loop. If you can do it more than 4 times at full speed good on ya

I just got back from a week of riding in Canberra, and can highly recommend it if your interested in a trip away. I only got to visit Stromlo and Sparrow Hill but those two alone were worth the trip. Planning on going back again soon - the city is just made for riders. Went out to visit Majura Pines too but it's no longer available to ride - they're putting a road through it according to the locals! Sad

As a central coast local I will also add my vote for Ourimbah and Awaba too. Awaba is great for fast, flowing rides while Ourimbah is more technical.

+1 for Ourimbah

Great track with fast flowing sections and a few technical sections.

I think Ourimbah is great and entertaining, the type of track that will keep you interested for a while.

Awaba is really good, but I don't find it as interesting.

Yellowmudee at its peak was really great but it needs to be allowed to have some love and has been shortened... still worth a ride for sure. It also has a nice vibe near the river and all (I like in the video above the mention at 7:35 of the Lantana clearing BMORC did Smiling ).

Great teamwork between the BMORC and WSMTB guys, and a nice result.

This thread was helpful for me, so I thought I would add my view. I think Ourimbah and Awaba are well worth the drive, and both can be done in a day.

After our boys' weekend away with Black Flash late last year, I'm going to add Glenrock. That place, erm, rocks. Smiling Bit of a drive from Sydney, but worth an overnight stay.

And once it opens again, Old Man's Valley.

I would do Awaba & Ourimbah & Glenrock in a day or overnight trip as I can because of rello's in Newcastle area
