Does anybody know if the rumours about Appin are true and that its now permanently closed to the public ?

That is utterly atrocious after the conduct of that member on the council for them to turn around be that blatantly ignorant.
its FKD. Land like that shouldnt "belong" to anyone, it should available for public use and recreation how people see fit. What a joke, i hope the moto's tear it to smithereens.

This is a PUBLIC forum please do not insult other members of the community (mountain bikers or otherwise) by carrying on.
I hope the moderators pickup on these comments and remove them for everyone's sake.
If its not a complete lockout is anyone documenting/auditing the track and going back to them with a proposal to address any concerns?
I'm completely ignorant of the efforts that are happening down there, so apologies if I'm going over old ground.
To often these sorts of decisions are based on people thinking they are doing the right thing that may not know or understand how sustainable mountain biking can be.
There are plenty of bad examples all over Sydney to look at and unfortunately most of the issues we have inherited as a user group by adopting trails with a history of motorized use on unsustainable gradients.
If this is all they know then that may explain things.
Furthermore the guys from Land Councils are often stretched on time and man power and you often find they are much less familiar with the land they own than we are. We may see different things and have different interpretation especially if they are not riders.
It's also much easier for them on face value to not work with us. It's their land. We need to show what benefit we can provide in terms of guardianship, environmental and perhaps working with their youth on mountain bike programs.
which means people can express their disgust,anger or views if they like.Flying Tomato did this without any racism or threat of violence in his rant! so Username2 their really is no need for censorship!!!

From what I understand its a bit messy due to people not being told. Also from what I understand trail bikes and 4wds still have access. I could have miss read the info.

I don't think 4wds and trail bikes have allowed access, I believe he meant that there is minimal policing of them, and with out the Mountain bikers in the area it will become worse.

We feel your pain Crank!! Sad day when you see your hard work trashed no matter the circumstance. Let's hope the tracks and the bush can survive long enough so one day we can get back in there to look after it.

I drive past there regularly and call in occasionally to see if there are any cars there and there is regularly.
With any luck the moto riders dont know what is happening and still some MTB's around so stay clear of the trails.
Has there been any further talk as to whether it is permanently closed or if there is still some glimmer of hope?
