Riding in Adelaide

I'll be down in Adelaide for a couple of days next month with some friends. We were wondering about renting bikes and riding some dirt one day while we're there. Does anyone have any experience with any of the local MTB parks, eg Eagle Park or Lynton? Are they easy to get to from the CBD? What are the trails like? Can we rent bikes? Any input appreciated.

Head to Belair, follow sheoak heading Crafers, on right is Belair Nasho, about half way up there is a track over barbed wire called sleeping bag. Later in stay head to Lofti. Get a compass, point to Adelaide, you are heading to Austral Pub in town. Enjoy next 40 mins. And after that will enjoy best part of town, rehydration and sights.

Wish could join ya, also Browns Creek is Fun, and Garry has build new flow at back of Craigburn farm that runs to sturt gorge. This I have not done but photos look great. Belair, Blackwood (homi) and Hawthornedene through back Mitcham have full joins. Look it up mate, its very close and very accessable from CBD or any destination.

Eagle Park is accessible by bike from town, very.

Have fun and send regards.

Adelaide Hills are one of best places for MTB in Oz in my humble. Mitcham Citi and Stirling have been very progressive after 30 years of activism.

Eagle Park is always lots of fun. I've not done any of the trails up around Belair but I have played the back 9 up there numerous times. Nice part of the world.

I'll be taking a bike over again at Christmas would be good to ride something different, have you got any GPS data of these trails Gonzo?

Cheers
Phil

PS +1 for The Austral but I prefer The Exeter Eye-wink

Thanks for the tips. Starting to get a bit excited now. Any suggestions for bike rental? Taking our own bikes just won't happen as we're only there for a short time, and we're actually going for a clubbie life saving event.

Try these guys http://www.bicycleexpress.com.au/Bike_Hire.aspx a bit pricy, min 2 day hire, personally if you're flying over, I'd box up your own bike and take that instead.
