Leaking Rim

Has anyone ever had a rim leak air from the rim joint? I've just bought a new set of wheels and the rear one is leaking air form the rim joint, admittedly I haven't put any sealant in it yet but my old wheels don't have this problem so I'm thinking maybe something is wrong?

If it's not a welded rim, then yes it could leak.

If it's a pinned rather than welded rim, you will likely need to use the Stans rubber rim strips or (better yet) the Bontrager ones.

Thanks Hawkeye, it is a pinned rim, a bit of sealant and maybe some more rim tape should fix it.
