I thought Cranks looked quite strong; good brand, good locations, good stores. Looks like they're gone though!

I drove past the Chatswood store about a week before christmas and thought the store looked really light on for stock and had a thought they might have been closing down but put it down to them having bumper sales leading up to Christmas. The next time I went past there were bikes in the window again but the back half didn't look as full as usual. Not good to hear.

Yep, they are shut! A pity really. From what i hear they might end up keeping a shop after the lawyers take their slice.

I went in there chatswood store several times, i cant say there customer service was crash hot, neither their prices, nor there stock besides niner Sticking out tongue

Only thing ill really miss is driving past and glaring into the window's too see what they had on display but thats about it.

I too wasn't impressed with their customer service either at North Sydney or Chatswood. Pretty average QH. I did buy parts from them and had my bike either repaired and serviced a couple of times. Attention to detail was their failing IMO.

... experience, unfortunately. Poor attention to detail from LBS mechanics was my primary motivation for setting up my own home workshop. I can't do everything (eg, forks and building wheels) but I can take care of most everything else.

The absence of any kind of certification for mechanics' minimum competence levels is a major quality assurance issue in the industry in my opinion.

I cant say it surprises me

I went into the Chatswood store once and the staff couldnt get their heads out of their mobile phones so i walked out without even as much as a hello

I had my gear cables changed the other day by McGees in Bowral and i must say that is a store that wont close down any time soon Eye-wink $65 for 2 gear cables and some grease where it was needed. I was even told to bring it back for a tickle up after a few rides which is awesome given i only spent $65

The last time I visited the Chatswood shop I was told they don't do repairs on weekends...

It's no surprise they are in trouble.

And also, every time I've been in there, the service has been terrible! The owner of the Chatswood shop is the worst! There is no customer service at all... And he doesn't care!

I must be in the minority. I always, and I mean every single time I went in, got great service from the team at Cranks Chatswood. What's more I don't think I ever saw them treat any customer badly or inappropriately.

I'll be disappointed if they have closed for good.

I always had great service there. Always handy for the Saturday arvo bits when working on the bike.

I have never been in the Chatswood one but I hated the North Sydney shop. Very bad customer service and I vowed never to step foot in it again.

I've had no issues at Chatswood. Good advice on MTB repairs. Bought a roadie there for my daughter. They remember me when I walk in. No problems!

I bought my Niner Jet from Dave at Cranks Chatswood and have had it serviced there for the last couple of years. No problems. Anybody recommend anyone else for Niner work on the mid / upper north shore?

Try Chatswood for some news. Went past the other night and it look like it was still going??

I drove past the Chatswood store this morning. Shop is full but was closed. There is a note on the front door. I coulnt read what it said from across the road. I thought it was a date like reopening 20th or 26th Jan. I'll have another look this afternoon when I go past.

Drove past this morning. Doors open.
