Hi guys

I have been riding for about a year and was thinking it might be a good idea to get some one on one coaching on my moutain biking to help build my skills and get rid of any bad habits I have picked up on the way.

Can anyone recommend a good trainer on the northern beaches

Cheers
Adam

VTSS350 is supposed to be pretty good. Just ask him.

Alternatively, a number of forum members moonlight as instructors with AMBC. Their classes are pretty good and the drills they get you to do can be practised any time you like.

They offer 3 hour one-on-one coaching. Hugh of CBD Cycles (city) is behind this I understand.

If you opt for AMBC I'd be interested to hear how it goes as I've read some pretty scathing reviews on their lack of communication and organisation however this was over 12 mths ago and I doubt they would be still in business now if they hadn't lifted their game...

I did a course with AMBC 6 months ago and learned heaps. Instuctors had truckloads of experience and the groups are kept small so you get plenty of 1 on 1 time.

Hi jht013

Which course did you do? I have been looking at the courses they offer and a few of them look quite good

Thanks hawkeye!

This forum is great but there are alot of people on here that shouldnt be giving advice.

They hide behind there computers with no real experinece and sound like experts.
That thread your refering to is full of them!

I did the trailbreakers course, for me it was great. Taught me techniques for effective breaking and cornering and getting up rock steps (which I have still have not mastered Sad). Might be a good idea to contact AMBC and work out which one suits you best.

The irony goes sailing overhead Evil That wasn't a compliment. Google FIGJAM.

Do you think it might be possible for you to forgo the put-downs and contribute something positive?

To be fair to VT he has a point. There are plenty of people who offer advise on this forum who perhaps arent of the standard of rider they imply they are.
Just because my my mate rides downhill or single speed, doesn't, by association, mean I can start telling others how to do it...
There are also loads of gun riders who would make crap instructors...

... but that isn't the point.

Out of the last 5 of his posts at the time of writing this, 1 was neutral, the rest were either big-noting himself or taking a swipe at someone else, or both. I didn't bother going back any further, but I'd expect the same pattern based on my loose recollection.

What's with that kind of behaviour? Puzzled Sad

It certainly doesn't contribute to this forum being the kind of place where people feel welcomed and like they want to participate and give back to the sport.
