Look for the GNW sign.

I'm guessing you don't dig/work on these trails. I don't think this should be posted as I know what is like to spend years digging trails and have people turn up and not respect the hard work and basically trash the place and leave. Can this be deleted out of respect to the guys who build and ride this place

I've been riding through there for over ten years. Most of (current)single tracks were made by motor bikes for motor bikes,
The newer ones also seems to be made with the assistance of motor bikes and have directional signs , which to me, is an open invitation to ride them.
That said, the Great North Walk is a walking trail - be extra nice to people on foot.

Didn't mean to offend people, just seen photo of entry to other trails which are mainly ridden by smaller wheels if you know what I mean

Its all good.

To change the topic a little, does anyone else feel that moto and 4WD use of the area has dropped off?

Some people seem to forget this is an open sight but it can be a bit tricky having a frank discussion.

It used to form part of my favourite long cut between Newcastle and Killingworth. Sometimes it became the destination.

I don't go there as often as I used to but I've noticed a lot less trashing by FWDs (even after rain when GNW was churned up into quagmire near the climb at the southern end of the golf course). Some of the trail bike tracks and the quarry don't seem as busy. Could have something to do with the new perimeter fencing.
