Hi guys, doing Ingerekke for the first time in May. Any tips on equipment etc from those who've done it before, especially tyre choice? Currently running nobby nics tubeless. One recommendation has been the Maxxis Ikon 2.2". Thanks heaps.

And won the masters cat last year.
Last year I was on Racing Ralph's, tubeless of course and they went well.
If you're not a nimble rider the maxis might be a better choice.
The trails there have a lot of sharp quartz in them and are super loose around the corners.
The tracks are among some of the best I've ever ridden. I love it there but can't make it this year.
You'll have a blast!!!!!

I ran maxxis Ignitors and Crossmarks when I did it a few years ago. Tubeless is essential.

I have a couple of friends who live in Alice and ride a lot. They swear by Conti Mountain Kings. I ran Nobby Nicks the first time I did the race, but the vicious rocks up there literally ripped/cut the knobs off! The next year I switched to Ignitors on the front and Larson TT on back. They did well for me, not that I'm the fastest rider on the planet, in fact I might be one of the slowest. Definitely tubeless, plenty of Stan's and tyre boots (I saw a few torn side walls).

It's a great week with a huge range of amazing trails in an extraordinary place. Enjoy!

Thanks fellas for your advice - I'm not nimble (yet), so thinking either the Contis or the Ralphs. Thanks again!

Based on Gazza's comments I'd go the Conti's. If you choose to run Schwalbe's, you need to use the full UST version. The sidewalls on any of the lesser versions won't last. The UST Schwalbe's cope OK with Sydney conditions, but Alice is another level of hostile again when it comes to tyre survival, as has been reported by a few sources.

Enjoy! The place is full of amazing scenery

Hi, I rode the event 2 years ago.
I would recommend the following.
Stay at the event accomodation.
Tubeless setup.
Good lights or borrow lights from AYUPs.
Enjoy the town.
But most of all dont stack, i ended up at the hospital. Very interesting experience.
Great event, very social at back of field.
Take some cold weather gear for the nights, it gets cold.
Enjoy.

"But most of all dont stack, I ended up at the hospital. Very interesting experience."

The year I did it a guy came off and ended up with a dry bush embedded in his arse.

Agree with the advice above. Its a cracking event and one I'm very keen to do again with a few mates.
