Hi all.

We are planning to go for a three or four day mtb-trip in a couple of weeks.

As we are exchange students from norway, currently living in Sydney, we do not know very much about places to go for mountain bike riding here.

We are therefor surching for tips on places to go and trail to ride here! Any tip is very much welcome!

We are planning to brink a small pack with tent, so a long circuit trail/route is fine.

I.ex is the snowy mountains a good place to start?

Also, we have to hire bikes. Any shop to recomend that is cheap and have decent bikes? 5-6inch fullsuspension bikes would be preferred, but hardtails will also do it for us.

Best regards, Erik.

3 hours away and is is set up for biking.

Lot's of mtbing there, Mt Stromlo http://www.stromloforestpark.com.au/mtb/ is a dedicated park but there are a number of forests around also. Hopefully someone else will chime in and name a few.

Don't know any bike shops there but Google will help I guess.

Enjoy.

Try this shop at Woodford in the Blue Mountains. I have never tried it, but it might be worth a look.

+1 for Canberra. Went down in January for a couple of days and loved it. The trails down there are stunning, and are well maintained and loved by all. Central Coast, Hunter Valley and even up Coffs way are good to ride. I haven't ridden at any of those places, but am planning to do so soon, as I hear they are awesome to ride.

As for hiring bikes, I have no idea. Google will be your friend as previously mentioned.

I'm off for a weekend trip to Taree with MTNBike.com.au shortly. They are a good outfit run by a guy called Will. He can arrange bikes. This will be my 2nd trip to ride Taree - was wicked the first time. K

Plenty of ride options, picturesque coastal setting, great riding. Nice pub.
