Freeload bike racks

All,

Many moons ago I bought a Freeload bike rack, thinking that I'd make great use out of it bike touring all over the state. Fast forward two years and I have dusted it off, set it up properly and now I know why people were/are raving about it.

Despite my best efforts I've realised I need a front rack for the dually (as well as the rear rack I already own - with the side panels). No one seems to be stocking Freeload racks anymore and Thule dealers suggest July 2013 is when stock comes in. I'm in a bind as I head down to the snowy mountains next weekend.

- Does anyone know if there is stock of these racks (Freeload or Thule) in Sydney?
- Alternatively would anyone be willing to loan be one for a week, on the promise I'll return in good condition, or buy you a new one?

I've haven't ridden in about 12 months, but I will write up a trip report and post it on the site somewhere if anyone else wants a decent weeks ride in the snowy mountains.

Hey there-
I have just returned from cycling touring in NZ- used the FREELOAD as a rear rack on my PIVOT. Managed to get by with only one rack, but had to be very strict on what I took- and Hubby had a BOB trailer, inwhich we loaded the tent. If I was going solo I think I would have wanted two racks.

I got my reack by emailing numerous companies who had previously stocked the FREELOAD and hassling them... despite everyone saying that the product was out of stock until THULE releases the Re-branded product I found this to NOT be the truth... a bit of hassling, and I got what I wanted.... You could try this?!

OR, you are welcome to borrow mine- I have just removed it from my bike and am not currently using it. As with all things borrowed- YOU BEND IT- YOU BOUGHT IT!!!!

PM me if you would like to borrow it
-ALSO have 2 x BOB trailer which in my opinion are easier to use for off road touring as they are more stable- having toured off-road with numerous set-ups, i would say the BOB is the most versitile, but, the FREELOAD is easier to transport when the bike is in transit- on a plane etc...

Cheers T.

Phantom Cycles in Tahmoor might have them. I bought one not long ago from Kerry.
