The signs are up yet people still continue to ride when the trail is closed.... It's not that hard to understand is it?

Compliment them on being able to ride so well even though they a sight impaired. Smiling

Someone, some where suggested taking photos of regos with the offenders near the vehicles and sending the photos to Hornsby council rangers. Name and shame I reckon.

It's been discussed before.... I think it's time. Hard to police but got to start somewhere and get the word around.

Problem with taking rego photos is that walkers (great north walk opposite trail head) and commuters also park there so identifying who is riding and who is not with this method is not feasible. Not every rider carries their bike on bike racks. Some take the wheel off and stick it in the back of the car or ute.

you could take a pic of the rider loading up the car, first ascertain they have been riding there with some general chitchat, ask where they are from and if they drove or rode to the trail. then explain the trail is closed and why. then photograph them.

Move cameras are cheap enough, and moving footage eliminates a lot of scope for explaining away their bad behaviour.

If you are a participant in the conversation, or it is not private (eg, they are yelling) then you are OK to record the conversation under the Listening Devices Act, although it might be prudent to remove doubt by not recording sound at all.
