You could probably work something out with Kev.......He's in Queensland at the moment.

Carotel Motel, on the left on the way into town. You did say cheap.

Waldorf apartments are much nicer, right in the centre of town but I don't know if they are bike friendly. It is a secure carpark though, well as secure as a communial apartment carpark can be.

Don't forget to try wotif and other sites like that.

has heaps of different accomm options, is close to city, and is family friendly.
But the best bit ... Bruce ridge is right behind the 'village' so you can start your ride from the front door of your accom.

Clifton suites, northbourne.

Certainly bike friendly, great breakfast, secure parking, huge rooms. The room I had was big enough for me to not notice at first that the was a second bedroom with en suite and walk in wardrobe.

+1 for CMV. Stayed there for a week a couple of weeks back, and found the place to be very nice and affordable with friendly staff. No questions were asked about having the bikes there (we stored them in the room), but I'm assuming that's because they are bike friendly (especially with Bruce Ridge on its doorstep).

My friends and I have stayed many times at Canberra Motor Village/Alivio Tourist Park. The villas are new and excellent (but a mite more pricey), but the larger cabins are cheaper, fit a decent number of people and they have enough space to fit bikes inside the lounge room.
The park has a decent restaurant (the breakfast is excellent), pool, tennis court, and the trails of Bruce Ridge are just outside the gates. Also, it's an easy drive to Stromlo. We are going again in October.
