I made this for personal use because I was tired of checking for trails to only find out they are well over an hour away. After making it I figured someone else might find it useful. This has the name, nobmob link, and meeting point from the trails in the northern beaches, blue mountains, and sydney north, south, and west. Some trails are not listed because they lack a meeting point or something else.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible if any the information on this map is not correct.

Sadly that link doesn't workPopped back into life, but I hope all you did was tell it to link to the master KML or you might have been wasting your time.

Anyhow, there's a little map with stars showing the location of local (Northern Beaches) trails on the trails page. I guess what you are saying is we should expand that? Fair enough, I'll look into that.

You have to remember that 'well over an hour away' for you might not be for someone else. This is why they are grouped into areas around Sydney, Central Coast, Blue Mountains, etc, etc.

It's funny someone brought this up actually, as on the ride today I was asking one of the guys about how easy it is to find info and that I thought we need a better 'guide' to this stuff. Guess this is confirmation Eye-wink

I probably wasted some time. I had no idea about the master kml.

The northern beaches map seemed limited and instead of complaining I just decided to make my own and share it.

When choosing what areas to do I started with what was around me and kept going outward until I got sick of copy and pasting. This wasn't meant to be the end all map, just something I made for myself that I thought others in the sydney area might like.

I made an excel sheet with site names, nobmob links and gps coords that you can plug right into google mapsengine and it spits out the map. I can send you that if you'd like to expand on it.

Thanks, but we have all that info in the database that runs this site already Eye-wink

This isn't taken as a complaint, feedback is good & like I said, know we need to make things a little more friendly.

FWIW, I have thought about getting users to put in their exact location on their profile (kept private of course) and get the site to map trails within, say, 25km of them or something. Trouble with that, it's something that not many people will find. There's already plenty of stuff here that people don't know about without adding more! Eye-wink

See our new trails finder map.

In fact, I don't like to show off - ahem Eye-wink - but because it's a view and this is a Drupal site...

That's great, Rob. Very useful, especially for newbies.

Nice one.

Glad you all approve Smiling

I called it 'Trails Finder' as will add some filtering and stuff later.

BTW, you will notice if you login that the map will contain trails from any of the other sites you're showing content from.

Looks great Rob. Another idea could be a a different icon/filter for DH trails.

I was going to make a filter that showed what different difficulty ratings existed in which areas.

So if you were to filter by Double Black trails you'd probably find all the DH areas, huh?
