Omar Khalifa, who previously headed up Bicycle NSW and resigned after his attempt to reform the organisation to make it more accountabke to members was blocked by the board, talks to Cycling Central.
During his tenure, BNSW was widely considered to be at its most effective in cycling advocacy.

600 members have joined in the first 2 weeks. Another 150 are needed to join by mid November to contest the 2015 NSW election.
We need new standards of infrastructure and safety and better road behaviours without question. Our plans must be cost effective but also bold and accommodate how we see our communities develop. By addressing cycling we in fact put people and community at the middle of our transport planning. The flip side of the transport and mobility coin is the liveability of our cities and towns all across Australia. We would like our leaders to paint a vision of this future that is not merely an extrapolation of past failures.

I do remember my good mate, oldandslow, putting his name forward in a post on 6th June 2012 as the first leader of the Australian Mountain Bike Party. At that stage, he proposed the name to be Peoples United Mountainbike Party (P.U.M.P.), and promised all sorts of grandiose ideas. I was sceptical, but I was partial to the Berlosconi-style bunga bunga parties he promised.
Now, oldandslow, you have your chance. Will you rise to the challenge?
