All - I am looking at tubeless wheelsets

I have 27.5 wheels and am looking at mid range generally a rim and hub that can handle Red Hill on a regular basis.

Advice is sought on weight advantages and make of rim and hub combinations if possible. My budget would be $500- $700

I don't own now but have in the past and you can't go wrong with a set of shimano xt's.
Nice and stiff and stay true for ages.

Dunno if they come in 27.5", but an awesome and very popular combo is...
Mavic XM819 on Hope Pro2 hubs.
Got mine from chain reaction cycles for about $450.

One word in 27.5 rims, Pacenti.

I have a set of Pacenti hoops laced to Hope Pro 11 hubs on my 456 hardtail. Given my weight and lack of riding finesse I feel confident in saying they are near bomb proof. I've put a stick through a couple of spokes which did have them go out of true but Ben at Pedal Pushers St Ives had spokes replaced and wheel trued in under 5 minutes. I've had conversations with otherr owners and they have had remarks from their wheel builders about how round they are out of the box and how easy they are to build up. I thought this funny at the time because I expect hoops to be round but apparently this isn't always the case.

Best thing about then is their internal width which gives the rubber so much more "bag" than narrower rims.

I have a TL28 up front and a DL31 in the rear, both laced to Hop Pro 11 hubs with Sapim CX Ray spokes. I spoke to KP before I purchased and he said given my weight and riding style the TL28 would have been fine front and rear but for the cost of a little extra weight I went for the DL31 to give me more peace of mind for the "load bearing" wheel. Purchased from Action Sports in Germany for 466 euro at a time when the aussie was high against the euro. They no longer have Pacenti rims advertised so I'm not sure if they are out of stock or no longer stock them. Sorry I don't have weights of the wheels, I can't find the pics I took but if I can find them then I will let you know.

Good luck

+1 for the XT wheelset. I have a 29" set, they're very stiff and take a lot of punishment. I'm not a particularly nimble rider and tend to smash my way round the trails and they've stayed true. They're reasonably priced too.
