South Coast, Victoria trails?

Martine and myself are packing up the van and heading off on a road trip at Xmas and taking in the south coast including Tathra etc on the way before we head over to Bright, Victoria and ending up in Jindabyne for our usual Wicked Wombat 8hr race on NYE.
Once in Victoria we'll be heading over to Bright but can anyone recommend any "must do" stop overs for a ride along the way?
I'd hate to drive all that way and find out later we'd missed some beautiful Mtb trails or just anything worth stopping and having a look at?
Thanks in advance,
Gazza

If you don't know your way around Bright, last time I was there the local bike shop had a Wednesday arvo / twilight mtb ride that they were happy to have people tag along with.

Gaz Beechworth had some fun stuff many years ago, not sure it is still there or not.

http://nobmob.com/rides/beechworthpark Make sure you check out the scintillating video action. There were other tracks in the area but I have no links to them, from memory one of them was referred to as the shearing shed run or something like that. Not far from Bright either.

Just found this http://www.beechworthchaingang.com/index.php/trails

Has been refurbished and now there's about 12kms of track there. Definitely worth a checkout.
When I was in Bright (over NY this year) a group of locals meet to ride every day at I think 9am or so and meet at the local shop.
If you drive back via the Hume Hwy, check out Tumut as well, or Tathra if you go via Princes Hwy. Have a great trip!

Mt Beauty is about 30km from Bright. Its pretty steep and I have enjoyed it every time I have ridden there.

Are you planning to be back in Bright for the nationals?

Lana and I often camp near nowra, and do the Super Bowl and butterfly, if your heading down that way, matt at berry cycles would point you in the right direction, Super Bowl is class!

If you do Tathra then a few km's away is Mandeni (between Tathra and Mermbula), which I think is worth a stop. Did it again last week and enjoyed every bit of it.
