Capital Punishment 2014
The Ride Canberra site describes the main forest entrance as being the corner of Kowan Road and Sutton Roads. There is a parking area 5km into the forest along Kowan road with gates that may be locked. Call Canberra Connect (13 22 81) for the combinations or ride from Sutton Road for a warm up.
Capital Punishment is the mountain bike enduro that takes in Canberra's best single track. It includes a 50km and 100km options. This is the only time you can link it all together - Kowen Forest, Majura Pines, Black Mountain and Mt Stromlo.
It is not too hilly and if it is dry it is fast and fun! There is the festival at the finish which includes jumping castles and a kids race. And to top it all off there is the After Party and Presentations at the Crowne Plaza.

Anyone been for a ride around kowen or stromlo? What's the conditions like?
I have a new level of respect for the "roadies" at the pointy end of the field after that. It is a brutal event. There wasn't any part of me that wasn't aching as I crossed the finish line.
The speed the elite guys travel at is just awesome. It's not just the fire trail either, these guys are sensationally fast on the single track and the descents! It actually surprised me how fast they were through those sections.
The single trail of Kowen and Sparrow Hill is just amazing. Stromlo may be good also but I was in too much pain to tell

Despite all the pain I'm pretty happy with my result. Total time was 5:38, net time 4:56. 302nd overall and 94th in Masters.
I'll get back to you on next year.....
On the results pages they are still missing a couple of the times. Does anyone know the story behind that? I don't remember that happening last year.
I noticed that about the times but they all seem to be up now.
Does anyone know when and where the photos are posted?
