New To Riding

Hey everyone just got a mountain bike and have just started riding. I was wondering if there were ever any group rides I might be able to tag along with. I have looked at the red hill trails and others and other and they look like mazes and I don't want to get lost. It would be really nice to ride and learn the trails with other bikers. I've done the Manly Dam ride three times (went from 1 hour down to 40 minutes already) now and while it's fun I think I may get bored of only riding that. So if anyone is riding and wouldn't mind a tag along I would love to come and ride and meet some people.

Thanks,
Zack

XC, AM or DH? 26er, 27.5, 29er? Hardtail of full suspension? Fatbike?

That will give us some clues as to what kind of riding you might be interested in. Although if you're down to 40 minutes around Manly Dam you're obviously no slouch Smiling

Haha I didn't even think about that. I'm into anything really. I have a 27.5 full suspension. I wouldn't mind giving some drops and jumps a go though. But like I said I just want to ride it all really.

Brand and bike model?

You'd be welcome to join us on this ride, but it's not particularly technical, more a good cardio workout on a mix of fire road and singletrack:

I'll be riding out from near Manly Dam if you want a bit of extra punishment Evil

I have a Giant trance 2. And I would love to join the ride but I have work at 12:30 how long would that ride take? It says two and a half hours is that about right?

Looking at some of the names there, one of whom is still struggling with fitness after a shoulder reco, it's likely to run over time if you want to do the full ride.

However... you have the option of bailing out early if you want. Finding your way back is pretty straightforward but if you need to be shown the way I'm sure one or more would be happy to accompany you back to the trailhead and it won't be a problem. I for one don't mind cutting the rest breaks short if you want to keep moving.

Just let us know when you need to be back at the carpark and we'll organise accordingly.

Really now that I think about it as long as I'm back to my car by about 11:30 I should be fine, so I think I am going to come. Thanks for everything I am looking forward to meeting and riding with everyone Smiling

Cool, just click the link above the "Who's In? heading on the ride to let everyone know you're coming.

PS: A thought... a continuous ride of 2hrs+ is quite a different deal to ripping out high-intensity single laps of Manly Dam of 40 minutes. There are some things you'll need to do to avoid the unpleasant scenario we call "bonking", which is running out of gas. Not fun, but easily avoided. PM me and I'll share some info.
