Going to use co2 canisters for fixing flats instead of pump. Question is what size co2 canisters do I need to fill a mtb tyre? 16g or 25g? Tyres are 26" 2.1-2.3 around 23-28psi. Thanks.

Unless you're racing, I'd still carry a pump. Just in case.

CO2s are great for group rides and training rides when you want to keep downtime to a minimum, but they still fail.

yep. 29er + 1 road sized canister = disappointment
you will get enough in it to pretty much ensure you will pinch flat sometime pretty soon.
ride with 2 or 3 in the kit.

I always carrie 3. I need 2x 16g canisters to get a 2.25 tyre(26") to get cose to 40PSI. But it all depends on your weight. I'm about 85kg with the whole kit.

when racing you want to have that sort of pressure to stop pinch flats. when you get back to camp. let out the CO2 & replace the air with normal floor pump. Over time the CO 2 reduces pressure. It really is just to get you back home.

Even just social riding. you don't want to slow down your mates. You just want to make sure you can enjoy the rest of the ride without having to worry about another puncture. But if youre riding in a big group, there is bound to be someone with a hand pump. just get it up to pressure if you are juts carrying 1 canister

Ive had the occasiona burp as well I Usually run tubeless....

always carrie 2 tubes & 3 canisters. or nothing at all if its just an hr sprint or something.
